You may have already heard about this, but Eric Rudolph (who was profiled on UM in 2002, and was captured in 2003) is slated to plead guilty to the bombings he's accused of (including the 1996 bombing at the Atlanta Olympic park). The plea agreement will spare this anti-government nutcase the death penalty, but he will be given life in prison without parole. His guilty plea is scheduled to take place this coming Wednesday.

I'm really glad the authorities finally caught this guy. Back when he was still on the loose in the mountains of southwestern North Carolina, everyone here was starting to think of him like bigfoot; always some sporadic sightings, but never caught.

But seriously, one of the guys I work with had his picture taken with the policeman who finally spotted him behind that supermarket. It amazes me that these cases finally get resolved by sheer luck. I'm just glad the FBI never did give up on pursuing this guy. This should be the attitude for all the unsolved cases that some people said would never be resolved.

In any case, if the authorities had given up looking for Eric Rudolph, Rudolph and his supporters would have won. Well, they did give up, but that was only after Rudolph was finally captured.

I agree. There toward the final years of the search though the FBI, it seemed, was withdrawing more personnel away from the hunt. I would guess in most cases like this it is a miracle that these people are caught.

How many years have gone by and nobody seems to know what has become of D.B. Cooper? I know the cases aren't similar, but it seemed like Eric could've met a similar fate in the woods of North Carolina. Died from dehydration in some cave and nobody would've ever found him.

Well, as you all most likely know, Eric Rudolph pleaded guilty this past Wednesday (April 13) to a series of bombings, including the 1996 Olympic Park bombing. His guilty plea spares him the death penalty, but he is sentenced to spend the rest of his life in prison.

During his plea, he said: "Because I believe abortion is murder, I also believe that force is justified...in an attempt to stop it. Whether these agents of the government are armed or otherwise, they are legitimate targets in the war to end this holocaust."

Well, Mr. Rudolph (even though you're probably not reading this), there is no justification for committing an act or force that results in the loss of innocent lives. You must be lucky that you're not getting a needle in your vein. However, I honestly believe you deserve a death sentence since one of your bombings killed a police officer.

In any case, I'm thankful that this anti-government nutcase is out of society for good.
