I'm so glad I found this forum, this is awesome!
One morning, I was lying in bed, wondering what type of Stargate SG-1 fan fiction (fanfic) I wanted to write next. Got thinking about the show, and something in my wee brain clicked.... TONY and ROGER! They're astronauts, right? So, I got to thinking... put them into present-day, born in 1954 (making them the same age as the main character on SG-1, played by Richard Dean Anderson) and have them flying in the space shuttles (Endeavour, in this case.) Something goes terribly wrong on Endeavour... and O'Neill (RDA's character) asks an alien buddy of his to save them. And so they start a new chapter of their lives. Oh, yeah, and Jeannie's missing when all this happens. Vanishes (heh) out of thin air, seemingly, four months before when she and Tony are on a picnic. JUST TO WARN THE IDOJ FANS ON THIS: Something about Jeannie y'all may not like, but fear not... something's coming down the pike about her that her fans will enjoy. One of the other differences from the series is that T & J are not married (yet). After this little adventure, Tony asks her to marry him. (He was so sure in his heart and spirit that they'd be together again, that he'd bought her a ring.) So, that's a basic rundown, don't wanna ruin it for anyone. Why did I mention good ol' Roj? After the main story, "Endeavor to SGC," Roger stays on at the SGC to become a new team member. I didn't know what his specialty in college would've been, so I made him a Ph. D. in Planetary Sciences (B.S. in Geology). With him being in the Corps of Engineers, I thought that made sense. So his knowledge of planetary sciences will be useful going on off-world missions, plus, like he tells O'Neill, "If it's got a stick, I can fly it." The AU (alternate universe) SG-1 isn't very different either. You'll know what I mean by this, if you're an SG1 fan, but in this timeline, Jacob is still alive, and there's no Jack/Sam thingie going. I've got Roger and Samantha as a couple in this time/universe. Except for giving him a middle name (Edward) and a degree, and changing his age, I think I stick to the real Roger Healey pretty well (and I mean REAL too, go to my website and see). Samantha too. His story continues (T & J are back in Florida) in "From the Diary of Major Healey", both his entries and reality bites (narrative): "Rated PG-13 (T on fanfiction.net)... so far. Just so everyone's got fair warning, remember Roger's a lecherous sumbee, and he and Samantha go at it pretty heavily. Not too detailed, but some IDoJ fans may be offended. Or not, if you're into Roger...." Sorry so long, I'm just having a blast working on this. Got at least two other complete stories coming up, not just adding to Roj's diary. So check out the link below about my original fanfic. And PLEASE, I'm begging you, if you're an IDoJ fan, send me feedback! I want to know what y'all think. See the reviews I've received from both fan bases. Peace out, |

Just a note, for any Roger fans. Roger's going to be trained and rated as Pilot by this coming 17 AUG 2004 segment of his diary. The passages leading up to it were very well written, if I do say so myself. When he first LEARNS of the X-303, then a few days later he's handed the Flight Manual for the ship, and General O'Neill tells Carter (Roger's love interest) to bring Roj to the ship to see it for the first time.
I think Roger's fans will get how he's feeling in this. 13 AUG entry: He's just been handed the Flight Manual for the X-303 Prometheus, and he literally looks like he's going into shock. "How do you tell a test pilot and astronaut, a man who'd rated Top Gun, a man who could fly anything if it had a stick, that the next stage in his flight experience was going to be a hyperspace craft, built by the US Air Force? Capable of going many times the speed of light? You tell him very very carefully." 14 AUG entry: Sam (his girlfriend) leads him into the underground hanger bay of the X-303, and dramatically opens the door, and he gets his first view of it: "Are you ready, Major Healey? Take a deep breath now..." and she pushed the door open, holding it for him, motioning him forward. "The USAF X-303 Prometheus. Roger slowly stepped forward, eyes wide, mouth agape, like he was going into a shrine, a holy site. For him, it practically was. He was a test pilot, an astronaut. And he'd beheld his Holy Grail. He wasn't aware of it, but the crew of the Prometheus was watching his entry into the hanger bay." This is what Roger's going to Pilot (as back-up, that won't be his primary role, he's going to be Second-in-Command and Planetary Specialist on SG-9.) |
