I always thought Geoffrey really ran that household.

I think they treated him badly. The banks were so lazy. They could have done a few things for themselves.

Yeah, I know! Why can't THEY answer the door for once. All you have to do is turn the knob and pull. Sheesh!

He probably was treated that way because of his job title

Yeah, I agree he was treated a little badly. But don't forget, he was a butler, and that was his job. But I think he was treated worse than other butlers though.

I don't think he was treated badly. He seemed to let The Banks family know how he felt. He made remarks that made his character funny. Whenever I watch the show, I never felt sorry for him, it made me like his character even more because, he didn't seem like the typical butler. He always had something to say about whatever was going on in the house.

Plus Geoffery realized early in the series how he was being treated and put his foot down and demanded a raise or he wasn't coming back. So yeah He was treated like crap in season 1 and 2 but he defntely got tired of it.

Some TV butlers/maids are pretty funny. Geoffrey was, but he was treated pretty bad mostly by Hilary, but that was nice of Geoffrey in the final eps to choose to carry her luggage. Niles was really funny on The Nanny. And let's not forget about Hazel, and Alice from The Brady Bunch.

Or Benson!! The most smartalecky of all!

Miles MADE The Nanny for me - I was always waiting for one of his zingers on C.C.!

i wonder why geoffrey wasn't written as a housekeeper instead? it fit his job description more than a butler.

In the episode where Geoffrey quits because Phil only gave him a $20 per paycheck raise, it was implied that other families' butlers treated them better.

But it wasn't like Geoffrey was treated like a second-class citizen either. The Banks let him be a live-in butler and he had a nice little bedroom. There were a couple of episodes where he was lounging around the house because he had the day off.
