Post Predicting The Skeds: CBS

CBS is easily the most enviable of the 3 networks. They have Jerry Bruckheimer's batch of procedural hits, and a hit sitcom to replace departing "Everybody Loves Raymond".

The still have the Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8PM slots to worry about, unlike last year, where all they had trouble with were the 10 spots.

Already Renewed: "The Amazing Race", "Survivor"

99.9% Chance it's back: "C.S.I. franchise" "Without a Trace", "Two and a Half Men", "Numbers", "Cold Case", "Sunday Night Movie", "60 Minutes", "The King of Queens", "NCIS"

Decent Shot at Renewal: "Yes, Dear", "Listen Up"

On the Bubble: "Joan of Arcadia", "Judging Amy", "Still Standing", "60 Minutes Wednesday"

Don't Count on It: "dr. vegas" "JAG,"

Sunday:
7:00 60 Minutes
8:00 Cold Case
9:00 Sunday Night Movie

The SNM on CBS has had less flops than recent years, and should expect to last another year. Cold Case is a bonafide hit, and Sunday night 60 Minutes still has it's credibility.

Monday:
8:00 The King of Queens (New Time)
8:30 Listen Up
9:00 Two and a Half Men (New Time)
9:30 Untitled Bruckheimer and McCall Project (New Series)
10:00 C.S.I. Miami

CBS was never more stable than when they had The King to lead off the night. As for "Still Standing", I think it's had way too long to prove itself and will be cancelled. How can you possibly pass on a comedy, or anything for that matter, from Jerry Bruckheimer.

Tuesday:
8:00 NCIS
9:00 The Amazing Race
10:00 Threshold (New Series)

"Judging Amy" hasn't won it's timeslot in two years when up against a new episode on NBC. It recently recorded it's lowest ratings to date. Like what they did with "The Guardian", I think CBS wants fresh blood, and they'll get it with this Carla Gugino Sci-Fi drama from the "Trek" people. This will bring in 35 year old Trekkies needing a fix.

Wednesday:
8:00 Joan of Arcadia (New Time Slot)
9:00 Yes, Dear (New Time Slot)
9:30 Ready, Fire, Aim (New Series)
10:00 C.S.I. New York

I think CBS gives "Joan" one more shot to try and establish a new following as counterprogramming to "Lost". If not, there's always "60 Minutes". "Aim" comes from Dick Wolf. 'Nuff said.

Thursday:
8:00 Survivor
9:00 C.S.I.
10:00 Without a Trace

Nothing needed to be said about TV's #1 night.

Friday:
8:00 Love Monkey (New Series)
9:00 Numbers (New Timeslot)
10:00 Conviction (New Series)

I think "JAG" is done with David James Elliot's leave. Therefore, "Numbers" moves away from "TBJ" and anchors a night with a light-hearded Tom Cavanaugh drama and the Sally Field-Eriq La Salle - Lisa Gay Hamilton legal drama.

Saturday:

More repeats and reality failures.

I thought that that dr. vegas thing was cancelled shortly after it's first few airings?

I don't know about you, but I think it's about time someone from Seinfeld had a new show that made it to two seasons, him, Richards and Julia have already had their flops a few seasons ago.

The Seinfeld Curse shouldn't apply to their entire future careers

Watching Ellie went for two seasons -- although the second was horrid.

Listen Up has been horrid since day one, so if it is renewed.... it can't get much worse.

9PM The Amazing Race
10PM New Drama

SATURDAY

Overall, CBS needs some fresh blood. I'm not sure just where to place Joan or Amy right now. I think they both might end up coming back. Joan could get a fresh start elsewhere. I do think Judging Amy should stay and round out Tuesday's. But maybe giving that show a fresh start somewhere else could spark a bit of life back into it. It's still a solid drama. Joan seems more vulnerable, but in this case, you just can't even begin to guess. I'm not happy with my CBS schedule, so, I'll probably re-do it. CBS puzzles me more than NBC or ABC...

so Yes Dear could become one of the rare instances of a show that started out full season, then was cancelled but brought back as a midseason replacement after it'd been on a few years, and did good enough to come back for a full season?

JAG is already Cancelled.

Dr. Vegas got cancelled last November.

Still Standing will probably go one more season to get 4 years.

Yes, Dear was originally suppose to end this season after getting 13 episodes, but good ratings apparently has helped the show to perhaps gain a full sixth season.

My Lineup:

Sunday:

7:00 60 Minutes
8:00 Cold Case
9:00 Sunday Night Movie or New Dramas if CBS scraps the Movie.

Monday:

8:00 Still Standing
8:30 Listen Up or New Comedy
9:00 Two and a Half Men - New Time
9:30 New Comedy
10:00 CSI: Miami

Tuesday:

8:00 Navy NCIS
9:00 Amazing Race
10:00 New Drama - Judging Amy will likely be cancelled.

Wednesday:

8:00 60 Minutes Wednesday or New Comedies, Drama, etc.
9:00 King of Queens
9:30 Yes, Dear or new comedy
10:00 CSI: New York

Thursday:

8:00 Survivor
9:00 CSI
10:00 Without a Trace

Friday:

8:00 Joan of Arcadia or New Drama
9:00 New Drama
10:00 Numbers

Saturday:

8:00 New Drama, Reality Shows, Movies, CSI repeats, specials, etc.
9:00 Drama repeats or New Drama, Movies, Reality Shows, etc.
10:00 48 Hours

CBS is completely unpredictable. And if they play their cards right.... they might have a possibilty of winning more timeslots than every other network combined.

After a disastrous schedule for ABC and NBC.... CBS can't do much worse.

Exclamation

CBS is by far the toughest to predict(well except for FOX which I won't bother with ), but here's my final guess:

Sundays
7:00pm-60 Minutes
8:00pm-Cold Case
9:00pm-Sunday Night Movie

Mondays
8:00pm-The King of Queens(New Night and Time)
8:30pm-Old Christine
9:00pm-Two and a Half Men(New Time)
9:30pm-Everything I Know About Men
10:00pm-CSI: Miami

Tuesdays
8:00pm-The Amazing Race(New Time)
9:00pm-NCIS(New Time)
10:00pm-New Drama

*This is very tough... Race could be at 9 or 10 and NCIS could be at 8 or 9. New drama goes in the open slot most likely.

Wednesdays
8:00pm-Still Standing(New Night)
8:30pm-Yes, Dear(New Time)
9:00pm-New Drama
10:00pm-CSI: NY

Thursdays
8:00pm-Survivor
9:00pm-CSI
10:00pm-Without a Trace

Fridays
8:00pm-Judging Amy(New Night and Time)
9:00pm-New Drama
10:00pm-Numb3rs

Saturdays
Crime repeats etc.

I started out liking it at first, but I got bored with it. I grew tired of it in part because I'm getting annoyed with sitcoms that present teenage boys as morons - and how many teenage boys, like Mickey, actually think their mothers make orange soda?

I noticed that CBS shelved "Listen Up" to air more "Raymond" reruns in its time slot. Also, I actually caught the real Tony Kornheiser's show "Pardon The Interruption" once, and Tony Kornheiser is more entertaining than Tony Kleinman. As that old VW Rabbit ad asked, why settle for a copy when you can have the original?

I won't miss "Listen Up" if it really has been canceled. In fact, I've been expecting its cancellation!
