tradeing dvds of tv shows is supposed to be fun
i read almost every post on about 10 boards, and have seen a lot of negative posts about this trader and that trader i really cant see why so much time is spent on a poor deal that involved a few $$ worth of blanks and some postage. there are going to be some bad deals, and some hard feelings. i think its much heathier for the hobby and our selves to get past them and move on. i have had good dealings with some of the folks that get bad mouthed on the various sites, includeing this one. like anything else in life, i may have far different respones than the next trader does, thats just the way it is theres been a lot of mention about quincy lately yes some will fault him for trying to get $ 50 a tape for 2 hours of show, but i have to give him credit for putting it out there as an option. i put his name on my absolutely notgoing to buy from list, after he responded to a want of mine with the $ 50 price thats how to handle that situation then a month later out of the blue, the same person offers me a trade list, and guess what, the eisodes i wanted from him in the first place were not on it. i emailed and i got this response--i will not comment on its merit i really havent a clue if its correct or not--- i had a flood and those eps are gone well needless to say now this person is on my forget it completely list for anything. i didnt need a bunch of negative posts to tell me that, it played out very easily to make a decision. its time to move foward and put those efforts toward a new trade, and think of the joy when that new package hits the mail box. yes i have been ripped off by about 15 people in my dvd sealings, two were for actual cash money, but the rest were for only some discs and postage. yes it stung, but there is no profit in dwelling on the poor deals that didnt go my way. the benifits and joy of adding new items to my collection totaly outweigh the sting the poor deals caused. i have made many many trades and its like being 6 years old on xmas day again when that package gets to the mailbox |

I agree completely with Loren. Trading should be fun. I have been trading for about a year. I have met alot of really nice people that I now consider friends. I was ripped off once in a trade, I don't understand why anyone would want to do that to anyone else. I only lost the cost of disc and shipping, less than 20 bucks. I have always believed, if you give your word, you stand behind it. So I'll continue to have fun and add to my collection. I agree it is like Christmas to get a package of shows. Thanks to all.

I don't trade with those who have already proven themselves rude, liars, cheats, etc. Life is too short, my pocket book too empty, and my schedule is too full already to subject myself to nonsense. Forewarned is forearmed. And as I explained the other day, most of the bad traders on the bad traders link are indeed bad traders. A bad trader will often lie low for a time, but usually rise up again somewhere along the line. I don't want to be in their line of fire when they decide to strike. I have only been ripped off a handful of times, but each time it bugged me, and not just because of the money invested. Maybe it's easier for a guy to separate the logic and emotion... |

i have had a great time over the last 12 months getting shows for my collection, lately i have had a few personal problems which have slowed me down and my last few packages were sent later than i hoped!!.but overall it has been great.
it would have been a bit more enjoyable if i hadn't been ripped off twice and had known how to better handle it at the time.but it isn't a perfect world and i am a lot more cautious making deals these days.here are a couple of things i do now to get around bad trades 1.ask for a sample dvd/vhs that i can purchase to view quality. (this will at least prove that they own some episodes of the show in question) 2.do a trader check on all applicable google groups/yahoo groups and other well known trading boards.(a lot of the time there are people who have had good/bad dealings with a said trader who don't bother to post on boards but will happily send you an email) 3.try to get them to split large packages in sections ( costs around $20.00 u.s more but can be a safe way to go!) ((((( loren i really cant see why so much time is spent on a poor deal that involved a few $$ worth of blanks and some postage. there are going to be some bad deals, and some hard feelings. ))))) that is a good point, i would try to devote my time to importance. if i am ripped off for $200.00 dollars i am going to pursue that money well before i chased up a lousy 10-15 dollars,i suppose it also depends on how financial people are. i have made many friends on this board and surprise surprise!! the majority of them have been around for years.they have fended off criticism that was uncalled for and continued to have good dealings with other members. |

thats probably true jen, i have seen a lot of posts where a male person has let lose with shocking language towards another trader but they are happy to leave it at that instead of chasing it up?? as for myself i take any kind of stealing personally but i deal with it accordingly i don't spend weeks hunting down a few dollars. one question: is it true that if someone steals your money through paypal that you can dob them in and hopefully get some of it back? ,if so how long can you leave it?

and even if it were about yourself, its my opinion i have never dealt with you, and dont believe even emailed at any point, so i have no experiences with you that i know of, unless you use another name at some boards i just --as my personal opinion, think the energy spent would be more productive for everyone, to focus on the fun part of this hobby i just got the final word that i got hosed on a trade for sure today. it followed all the classic moves very nice emails , we srike a deal for like 30 dvds. i get mine sent in the usual 2nd day, then i get email they arrived, but the twilight zone was full of pixels. i offer to replace it, and do with another 6 dvds.--no questions on my part, dude said it was poor, just my method. a month went by, and i emailed--i got the old my computer broke. ok get it fixed and finish the swap. almost anotehr month, i send another email, he responds, i just found the stuff on my desk, ill get them off right away. another 3 weeks rolls by, and nothing. so today i just send my i dont want to hear reasons, i just want my stuff email. scammer gets all defensive, now i am rude he says--then he says my dvds were crap, etc. yes after almsot 3 months i was not in the mood to speak of pets and lawn care with the guy . i just wanted my stuff. so i tell him to keep the stuff and tehn he gets the ill send it back now song and dance. yes sure after you watched them and --or copied them by now sad part is the trade was for one of my best quality sets, and hes trying to tell me it was too bad to watch never a word for 3 months about quality. it stung, yes it did. an hour later i got the mail, a nice package from the south pacific that contained 68 very nice dvds to add to my collection i am over it and ready to move on to the next the lost trade thing cost me about $ 11 once again this is my opinion, yours is welcome to be different |
