I believe the hold up could be ownership. Unlike most television shows, the Odd Couple is unique in the sense that both co-stars own a piece of the show. Both Randall and Klugman were given excellent legal advice and secured a small portion of the ownership for themselves. I think it’s something like Randall 7% and Klugman 5% if my memory serves me. At the time, it didn’t seem like much, however, since the show has been a syndication staple for all these years, both of these seemingly small percentages made these two actors very rich. So, with royalties on the line it usually means all parties need to agree on how this is handled as far as DVD releases. Amazingly, a small detail like cover art or menus could hold up a project, or perhaps Klugman or the Randall estate is trying to renegotiate a larger percentage. The subject of ownership came up once during an interview and I believe this may be the reason for the delay. Just my 2 cents.
