Hola!
Great article about TAGS from "Modern Drunkard" magazine. http://www.moderndrunkardmagazine.co...rry-bender.htm The Andy Griffith show's favorite themes for laughs seems to me to have been alcohol. Otis Campbell (the only married one) went on binge drunks at least once a week, to the point of sleeping in the town jail. Barney got drunk by accident on several occasions, and even Aunt Bea and her old southern women friends were getting blasted by a "Miracle Tonic". Most of Andy's arrests come from the moonshiners who lived in the hill country nearby. (Ernest T. Bass was probably on Meth then.) Why was moonshine/alcohol such a central topic for laughs? Any thoughts? Senor |
