Hi Everyone!

Just wanted to share this with you.....

As we all know the famous Perc Westmore was Al Lewis's make-up artist throughout the Munster show filming.
I was reading recently that one of his brothers - Monty Westmore, was the only make-up artist of Rudolf Valentino. Apparantly Valentino wouldn't let anyone touch him and did his own make-up until he met Monty Westmore, whom he let do his make-up then until his death!
I believe the Westmore brothers worked together at their "House of Westmore" (The world famous beauty salon - second home to the stars!), on Sunset Boulevard, so were obviously close and shared make-up ideas etc.

So, do you think this would be why in "John Doe Munster", Grandpa turns himself in Rudolf Valentino ((Rudolf Smith - hee..hee..)) (obviously done by Perc). I think this was a deliberate action organised by the Westmore brothers in the Munster show! - Very clever and very subtle!

I have placed into the Munster photo gallery, 2 pictures of Grandpa as a Valentino. These pictures have NOT been colourized! They are original photos released by the studio to promote the "John Doe Munster" episode in December 1965! They will show you what colour the costume really was, as we aren't able to tell with the show being filmed in black and white!

I hope you like them as much as I do!

For those who know me as "A. Pennyworth" on other boards, you know I like to post followup pixs to a topic if I have anything to share. Here are some Al Lewis pixs I have captured. I don't know if the make-up men are the Westmore family...Dracula do you know?

In the picture of Perc with the brush next to Al's face, Perc should have been a little more careful with the widows peak. It looks too phony because it's off-center.

It should look more like this...

The one with the brush is Perc Westmore. He was the make-up artist for Al Lewis.

The bottom shot could be Abe Haberman or Karl Silvera. Abe was Yvonne DeCarlo's make-up artist. Karl Silvera for Fred Gwynne.

Mike Westmore, (who just finished 18 years with Star Trek,) did Butch Patrick and sometimes Beverley Owen/Pat Priest.

(A.P. The question you asked me about Perc in the pictures has been answered further up by dirtprod, so I'm not ignoring you by not responding to it!)

I read somewhere that Fred and Al were given an extra $100 each in their weekly wage just to put up with the heavy make-up for the show, which would have been a REALLY GOOD bonus wouldn't it back in 1964!

I wouldn't mind that now in 2005!... hee..hee....

I think Fred Gwynne deserved a lot more than 100 bucks extra a week. I'd say at least 500 bucks. After all, Fred Gwynne was really the star of the show. 23 out of the 70 episodes have "Herman" in the titles. That's like a whole season of Herman.
