Default Price is Right "Million Dollar Spectacular" Primetime specials

Over the next 2 Saturdays(April 9 and 16) from 8-9pm ET/PT, CBS will run special editions of The Price is Right as "Million Dollar Spectaculars".

There's another one scheduled for a later date, but it's not known at this time.

Thumbs up

I'm looking forward to that. The last "Million Dollar Spectacular" was back in May of 2004 where both contestants got a double overbid like the daytime version does. There was no $1 miilion spin in the final test after the Showcase Showdown. Here is an article from TVGameshows.net back in May of 2004:

MILLION DOLLAR MISERY

This has not been the best of weeks for The Price Is Right. Two double overbids clogged up the daytime version this past week.

Saturday night, for the first time ever on The Price Is Right Million $ Spectacular, both contestants overbid on their Showcases, one in a heartbreaker.

Both Hilary Dresser and Sadye Duffy went over on their extravaganzas, Dresser by a scant $120. Dresser bid $61,000 on a $60,880 Showcase headlined by a 2004 Lincoln Town Car Ultima sedan. Duffy was nearly $4,000 over on a $48,172 prize package topped by a Ford Mustang SVPT Cobra.

With no $1 million spin in the Showcase Showdowns and a double overbid, host Bob Barker drew the name of Jay R. Brasios from the audience to go for the big money. Brasios failed.

Earlier, Dresser won $11,036 in prizes, including a new Santa Fe GT folding trailer in the Coming or Going game. Duffy won a $2,495 arcade game but missed out on a new Chevy Impala and American Tourist luggage in the Safecrackers game.

The night's other winners:

Rebecca Hacker, $30,770: A new Chrysler Sebring convertible in the Money Game after a Howard Miller cherry finish floor clock in her bidding game. Hacker, from Wisconsin, was the top winner of the night and nailed the $27,380 car price in her first two choices.

Michael Laughlin, $23,400: A $20,000 payoff in the Grand Game, during which Barker pulled off his classic bluff-and-feint routine for the Penn student, and a $3,400 trip to Cancun.

Stacey Powell, $16,840: A new Young Chang white grand piano in the Double Prices game after a $3,830 set of golf equipment.

Paul Machyin, $4,599: A new 60-inch projection HDTV before striking out in the 3 Strikes game going for a new 2004 Cadillac DeVille.

I hope they'll get another chance to win $1 million on either the showcase wheel in two rounds or if they don't win $1 million, maybe will give one more chance after the Showcase Showdown round to test their final spin to win $1 million. I'm looking forward to see it this weekend. Do forget to set my DVR's.

Update:

The 3rd Special will air on Friday May 6th at 8:00pm ET/PT. This is the final show that was taped.

Don't forget the 2nd special tomorrow night(Saturday) at 8pm. Last week's airing won the timeslot and helped CBS sweep the night in ratings.

Last week on the "Million Dollar Spectacular", a contestant spun the wheel for a million dollars after winning the showcase, the wheel stopped at a nickel not going to reach a dollar. It failed. I hope they're going to spin for a million dollars again tonight.

This is from TVGameshows.net last week:

Paswell Named Top Player after Capturing Cabin C

Freda Paswell lit up Saturday night on CBS by winning the most expensive single prize ever awarded on any version of The Price Is Right.

For capturing a 50-foot cabin cruiser worth $105,684, Paswell is TVgameshows.net's Player of the Week.

For the return of the TPIR Million $ Spectacular, Paswell opened the night by traveling down The Golden Road and nailing all three prizes. The flagship prize: a Four-Winds 268 Vista 26-foot cabin cruiser with a 75-horsepower engine.

Host Bob Barker went into his classic "isn't this exciting?" routine before revealing Paswell had won the boat worth $105,684.

Paswell advanced to the Showcase, where she overbid, but still ended as the evening's top winner and one of the ten biggest winners in the history of the series with $116,573 in prizes. Also in her haul: a new computer and printer, golf equipment bags and a white Yamaha upright piano.

TVgameshows.net will announce the week's All-Star team and Player of the Week for Mar. 28-April 3 Tuesday.

Oh you missed witnessing the biggest winner EVER in the history of the show.

The same girl who won the $77,000 car won a showcase worth over $100,000 which included a trailer. She ended up with over $183,000 in prizes.
