I just found out today that Howard Hessmen was a character on One Day at a Time - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

What character did he play? I received a One Day at a Time episode today and looked at the Opening Credits for the 83-84 season and saw tha he was in the opening credits. That's surprised the hell out of me.

He played the character of Sam Royer the father of Mark Royer the husband of Barbara. Sam and Ann eventually got married so that made Mark and Barbara not only husband and wife, but step brother and sister.

Hesseman was a cast member the last 2 seasons, 1982-84.

iim a big fan of howard hessman but as ive said here before and for you newbies and people who didnt see my posts before i will say it again. his character sam royer was the most arragont nasty jerk that imho has ever been on any sitcom i just didnt like anything about him at all even frank burns of mash was more likeable beats me what ann romono saw in this scumbag.
