Post MY EMAIL TO NBC

Below is the e-mail I sent to the people at NBC. I hope other people post thier e-mails too. I think it would be a really cool way to see what we love about "American Dreams". It's kinda long.

There are very few wholesome, quality programs that can be enjoyed by the entire family. "American Dreams" is one of those shows. It would be a disgrace if this show was lost for a number of reasons.

It is rare to find a show that captures an era, and is able to inform others about that time period. After hearing about the Nation of Islam on "American Dreams", I was inspired to learn more about the Nation of Islam, and was so fascinated by it, I ended up doing my black studies term project on it.

I love the entire era of the 60s, and especially love the way music is used in the series. Some of the inter cuts are amazing. Such as when the coffin of a returning soldier was shown as the line from Country Joe and the Fish "And be the first one on your block to have your boy come home in a box" was sung.

I love the way both sides of all issues are presented. While Meg is opposed to the war, we see Jack supporting it, and Helen in the process of changing her views. While JJ, just returned home, is still dealing with the issues of being a soldier, and what he did.

The show is incredibly relevant. It tackles the issues of gender, race, class, homosexuality, teenage rebellion, and boyfriend/girlfriend issues in a very realistic manner.

It is very rare to see a young, intelligent, female character who is not a stereotype, but portrayed as a real person, with hopes, dreams, desires, and fears. Patty Pyror is such a character.

I feel that there are so many characters, that everyone can relate to one, and it is very rare be able to say that about a show .

I love the way the characters change and evolve. It is very rare to see that on a television series, especially one featuring teenagers. None of the characters are stereotypes, and even those that seemed like they were at first, changed and evolved and grew into something more.

As I am very busy with school, there are very few shows which I regularly watch, but I always watch "American Dreams".

I love this show, and think it definitely deserves a fourth season.

Thank you for your time in considering my opinion.

Sarah, great email. I started a thread yesterday in which we're sharing our emails. Check it out if you want to see what some of those of the board, including myself, sent to NBC.
