Default Winnie and Kevin aren't like teenagers today

If they were, they'd be alot more sex on the show.Teenagers nowadays do it alot more than kids back in the time when TWY was set.Winnie and Kevin didn't sleep together once!

And I am glad they didn't.Since when is sex something teenagers should be doing all the time anyway? Winnie and Kevin had relationship complications that sleeping together would have made worse, but apart from that, the show had morals.I agree that if the Wonder Years was set in this time, there'd be heaps of sex,and unwanted pregnancies: the very reason why I hate today's teen shows.

Sleep together??? My God - weren't they only age 14 or 15 tops by the show's end?

Isn't that rather young to be sexual active or am I just out of the loop these days?????

Sad but true.I was talking to a friend about this the other day and she said,"Winnie and Kevin just didn't have the same urges s as kids today do,I was .The URGE is always there, but the common sense, and morals aren't.Kevin wanted Winnie real bad you could see it,but he was decent enough to not force sex on her.She was always playing hard to get anyway I think Kev had a hard time kissing her sometimes.

Kevin and Winnie were actually 17 by the time the series ended and that's when they lost their virginity to each other. They were barely old enough for sex in my view. Why they didn't get married will always be a mystery.

This is from the BBC Comedy Guide:

Quote:
That final episode was a humdinger, but it also frustrated the show's producers, who, latterly, had been feeling hampered by the ABC network's prudishness. Naturally, as Kevin matured, so the show needed to broaden its perspective. But ABC insisted that even a tastefully filmed one-second shot of Kevin tenderly placing his hand on a woman's breast for the first time be excised. In the final episode, a pivotal sequence in which Kevin and Winnie faced up to their unbreakable bond was faded out before any indication arrived on screen that, as the producers wished, they make love for the first time.
So don't blame the writers, blame ABC. Kevin and Winnie would have been a little more sex-driven if they'd been allowed by the powers that be.

They had morals. And I dont think 17 is too young for sex... its a question of maturity. If anything, kids back then were more mature at 17, and 18 than todays 17 and 18 year olds.

This show comes the closest of any I have ever seen to portraying life during that time period..Oh I admit, I was wilder than Kevin, and did the deed alot earlier, but as far as being realistic...It was right on, at least for me...God, I could have lived thru the lake episode...Sex was rampant then, but the middle America part was right on the money.......
