I went on a job interview 2 weeks ago,
1.Received a 15 minute tour of the Department 2.Was told how much the starting salary was 3.Received a written copy of position responsibilities 4.Asked how much time i would have o give my current employer 5.I was introduced to staff members and the receptionists 6.Showed me where the microwave and refrigerator was located after all that I receive a email today saying I didn;t get the job. That's going to give me a lot confidence going on future job interviews, DAMMM |

OMG!!! I am currently looking for a new job too, and the same things have been happening to me. I have had interviews similiar to yours where they make you feel that you have the job, and then they let you know (or don't) that you have the job. Its as if they want you to beg them for the position that you are applying for. All I can say is been there done that. You are not alone. Hang in there! |

I hate lots of compliments while I'm on an interview, only compliment me if the job offer follows. I remember not really being into the tour of the department because I didn't have the job yet. I didn't show that I wasn't interested but I think tours should only be for the first Day on the job. |

Something's up with that. My guess is that you were going to get the job, but something (someone) else came up. We never know what's going on behind the scenes with these things.
You could have had the job locked up, and someone in the HR department's son/daughter lost his job and they offered your position. You just never know. |

But anyway, I didn't get a tour until my first day. What do I care where the breakroom is if I'm never going to use it?

EXACTLY what happened to me. Recently I just happened to email a resume to a company that wasn't even advertising. An hour and a half later I got a call for an interview right away as they were "just about to post an ad". Was interviewed the next day by a manager, was told I had a 2nd interview with the V.P. and her again the following Monday. Was given a whole tour, salary agreed on, introduced, told to phone HR with any questions and when I didn't hear back, I called to see what time the interview was and was told they MAILED me a letter saying there wouldn't be a second interview and thanks but no thanks!! All we can figure is that this V.P. or somebody either already had someone in mind for the position, or all of a sudden they pulled the budget for the position and weren't hiring at all. As you say, companies seem to be pulling a lot of these stunts these days. I almost feel like saying at the beginning of the interview that you better not be wasting my time!! |

I've been looking for a job for five months now. I had an interview in Manhattan today, but when I showed up at the appointed time, I was told that the gentleman who was to interview me was on a last-minute conference call and I was asked to wait an hour. I left, browsed at a record store in Times Square, and came back with a couple of minutes to spare. I waited fifteen more minutes before I saw him. It turned out well, though; I have a follow-up interview tomorrow afternoon at a regional office in New Jersey.

That does suck! This making you wait and all - reminds me of going to the doctor's at an appointed time and they make you wait an hour - and then still charge you for their time! Like yours isn't worth anything!
Actually I used to see my old boss pull crap like that and I'd be as embarrassed as could be - had to keep making excuses for him and all. Makes you wonder if you would have wanted to work at a place like that in the first place! I'm really getting fed up and I've been looking quite a while. Its either this scenario or I'm one of two people and I get the second interview, then maybe even a third and then told the other person JUST squeezed by me. Meanwhile, about 4 - 5 weeks have gone by and you may not want to commit to another offer in case you get the one you really wanted. I'll tell ya - it ain't always easy!
