Default Do you know that some men in certain states will be required to do a

Criminal Background Check before becoming a member of certain Dating sites?-LOL Is that the dumbest thing you ever heard? I keep forgetting that men who meet females in public doesn't have any mental problems, only men on the internet.

I guess it makes sense because if you are paying them good money to set you up with someone, you don't want to be set up with someone who is hiding something, like a criminal record.

A man who meets a woman in public can be hiding something too.

True, but if you're paying a dating service to find you "Mr. Right," you don't want to find out that the guy has had an arrest or two.

Unles that's what you're looking for in a man.

I think it's a good idea because you need to know what someone is really like.
e.g. (a serial killer or rapist maybe that online friend.) I mean us here at SO
even think we're talking to the best people here. I'm not putting this site
I'm just saying. Online conversations need to be tracked and so do people
the internet can be a fun highway. But it too has it share of deadly crashes,
stop signs, detours, dangerous slippery roadways and such!
Those criminals out there are like the hitchhikers of the web.

I think it makes sense,we live in a world where you've got to do stupid things sometimes because you cant trust anyone.
So the impression I get from this is,Its probaly safer to date someone online than off, because you know they dont have criminal records!

Yeah, that's I think that even parents should check everything about what
kids get into and their college kids or whoever no matter how old they are.
Maybe some parents who object to websites like this are thinking there
is a stranger out who is prowling on my son or daughter. I mean we
need evidence so that the police and FBI can work to together to
put these criminals behind bars!,We need a safer internet!

It would be impossible to require everyone's criminal records be checked before going in public. a dating site is just a dating site, not the general public where you need to go to buy your groceries and go to work. there have been HUNDREDS of cases of people joining them just to find someone to rape and murder.

I like that!!!

True though - probably also has something to do with liability on the site providing the service. A female could get raped or taken for her money or something, and then turn around and be able to sue the site saying that they're the one's who put her in contact with the freak in the first place. Hell, if you can sue McDonalds for a hot cup of coffee that YOU spilled on yourself, then I'm sure you could sue a site for that.

All red tape crapola!

Why shouldn't they investigate. Dating services can become available to
anyone.A criminal is going to avoid them either. They're after sex, money
and a whole lot more I can guarantee!

Well, you're never safe on the Internet anyway, so I think a criminal background check for men wanting to be members of dating sites is kind of pointless. But I also think it's sexist. Some women are criminals too!

It's true, we are the most upstanding people in the online community.

I'm not so sure about Chad Doody and his posse though...
