Question Questions about the show

I apologize in advance if this has all been discussed and answered elsewhere on this board, but I have read a lot of posts but it would take me forever to read them all....

In the beginning of the show Naomi could afford the cost of a house or at least the upkeep of it on her Food Circus pay, so why couldnt her and Vint afford to buy a house of their own? Vint was a big shot who ran Kwik Keys and didnt Naomi get promoted at her job so I would think they would have made some kind of money especially after living off Mama for all those years.

Who is Tommy Boylin, the kid that Buzz said he was going to beat up in one of the beginning episodes? Was he related to the then unknown character Iola? Did Iola ever mention any siblings?
Who did Iola's neice (the one she wanted Bubba to take to the dance) belong too? Not Tommy unless Buzz was into beating up older people.

How many ex's did Naomi have? In one episode Vint is her 3rd husband and in others she says she was married 3 other times before Vint.

Ok, so Aunt Fran had a room, Sonya had a room, Buzz had a room and we know Thelma had a room. That is 4 rooms, maybe 3 if Sonya and Buzz shared a room. When Fran passed Bubba got her room, but who got Sonya and Buzzes room? There was an episode where Bubba and Vint moved to each others room, but couldnt Vint and Naomi move to the 3rd room if they didnt want the basement any longer?

Wasn't Luann Naomi's best friend? Why wasn't she invited to Naomi's dinner party (the Mama came to dinner)?

Back to Naomi's house, what house was Naomi's we know Thelma had a neighbor (cant remember his name) she hated and Bubba liked his granddaughter and they lived on one side of her. In the beginning of the show like I said before Buzz wanted to go next door and beat up Tommy Boylin who lived in the house on the other side. So what house did Naomi own? She lived right next door cause she was complaining to Thelma about her tree or something, coming over into her yard.

In the beginning the Boylin's lived next door to Thelma, so when did Iola move across the street. It can be assumed she lived across the street in comments made and the way in which Iola walks away when they are outside.

When Eunice was shown in the beginning of the show was it ever mentioned that she had a son Bubba?

For some reason, you just have to assume that the CBS years and the NBC years are from two different worlds.

For your first question...you would have to assume that even with promotions, etc. Naomi and Vinton still didn't have enough money to buy a house. Back in the beginning their original idea was to live in a trailer park, and then in the finally season before Tiffany is born, they end up buying a trailer. You just have to assume they didn't have enough money for their own actual home. Why they couldn't rent? Who knows.

Iola doesn't mention any brothers or sisters. Keep in mind though, Iola also doesn't have a job. So who the heck knows what goes on over at the Boylen house. When "Mama Learns To Drive" she see's Miss Boylen and even refers to her as Miss Boylen. But this is a little old lady bringing out her garbage. Not some morbidly obese woman who can barely move, as Iola makes her out to be. Thinking about it now, perhaps this was THE ORIGINAL Miss Boylen, and she passed away or moved and left her home to Iola and her family. That might make sense. Think about it, The original Miss Boylen may have been Iola's grandmother, who had grand kid's and very well one could have been Tommy Boylen, Buzz's soon to be punching bag. That might also be why Iola and her parents don't work. Perhaps Grandma kept them well taken care of.

Vinton is Naomi's third husband. Leonard Oates was the one before Vinton. Who we meet in "The Return Of Leonard Oates" and when Naomi first meets Vinton her name is Naomi Oates. I believe her other husband, her first husband was named, Tommy Ray, or Tommy Lee, or something like that. But Vinton is the third.

Mama had a room and Aunt Fran had her room and studio. From what I recall, when Buzz and Sonja move in, they take over Fran's studio. It isn't till Vint and Naomi start talking about having a baby, that Fran is worried about losing her room too. From what I can tell, there is 3 rooms upstairs. All I can assume is Fran's studio isn't big enough, or accommodating enough to live in permanently. As a temporary for visiting family, yes. But not for 2 people, and a married couple. I would assume. Doesn't Buzz end up moving into the attic for a short while as well? I'm a little lost on this one.

Luann was from the trailer park, not to insult those that live in trailer parks, but she was considered, at least by Mama anyway, as low class. Naomi's dinner party was for all these upper class snooty friends. Luann would have been out of place. Where Naomi makes this class of friends for a short time? Well, your guess is as good as mine.

In the first few episodes, yes, Naomi is Mama's neighbor on the right hand side. Later on this becomes the house that the man and his granddaughter live in, supposedly for 30 years, he's been there. Unless this is just a huge error on the show's part. Maybe Naomi rented a room there, while the granddaughter was away at school, or before the granddaughter comes to live there? I mean, that would make sense. Why it's not mentioned, I have no idea.

Maybe the Boylen's don't live next store, maybe the house Miss Boylen is bringing the garbage out in front of, she's cat sitting or house sitting. I know we call the people across the street our neighbors, but technically their not, as they don't live right next store.

It was mentioned on the Family Sketches and in the TV movie Eunice that Eunice and Ed had a son Bubba, I don't believe that he was mentioned on the show until he comes to live with Mama however.

I'm sure I'm probably way off on most of these, and there's plenty of proof in the show to prove I'm way off track. But I'm doing this from memory, and trying to explain what just might be goofs. So again, bare with me. If I'm right on any of them, I hope this helps.

Iola had lived across the street all her life. She was born in that house.

Naomi owned the house next door because she sold it and cleared $5,000.00 so that she and Vint could buy that trailer park in Arizona.

Iola nevers mentions Tommy Boylen. She does have a married brother Vern. There very possibly could be 2 Boylen families on the same street not related. In fact my own parents have a neighbor with the same last name as theirs who live right across the road.(no relation)

I always assumed Naomi lived in back of Mama, not next door.
