This is my first shot at writing a TC Fan Fic. I want to try my hand at misunderstandings and writing for Larry. This one's a two parter.

Larry In Love

It's a warm sunny morning. Although, being close to L.A. you can't tell until the smog burns off. Larry Dallas is heading off to work when he meets up with Jack by the stairs.

Jack: Hey Lar, how was your date with Susan

Larry: Where've you been, that was last week.

Jack: I can't keep up with you anymore.

Larry: Well, my friend, that's all changed.

Jack: I can't believe what i'm hearing, who is she?

Larry: Her name is Kate and she just moved here from
Connecticut, I forgot the name of the city. Anyway, she's completely different from the type of woman I usually go for.

Jack: Yeah, all looks, no brains.

Larry: Yeah, really funny. Are you, Janet and Terri gonna be home tonight?
I wanted to bring her by so you could meet her.

Jack: Well we were going to the Beagle for a couple drinks.
Why don't you meet us there.

Larry: Sure, We'll be there around 8:30.

Jack and Larry finish their conversation and head off in opposite directions to their jobs. Later on in the evening, Larry and Kate are walking towards the Beagle, his arm around her shoulder and her arm tightly around his waist.

Larry: You're awfully quiet tonight, you okay?

Kate: Yeah, i'm just tired, I stayed up all night watching a Maude marathon.

Larry: Why didn't you tape them?

Kate: Oh I did, that around 4am when I ran out of coffee.

Larry: You should've called me, I would've kept you awake.

Kate: Wait til we're married, you can keep me awake all you want.

Larry: I plan on it, Oh and cool it with the marriage talk when we get inside. I want it to be a surprise when I tell them.

They walk in and sit at the bar for a few drinks while they wait for Jack, Janet and Terri to arrive. Mr. Furley sees them and approaches.

Ralph Furley: Hey Larry, who's your date?

Larry: She's not just my date RF.

Ralph: Oh, well are you going to tell me her name or do I have to use my psychic powers.

Larry: *raises a skeptical brow* Psychic powers? that's not necessary, I'll introduce you. Kate, this is my landlord, Ralph Furley. We call him Mr. Furley or RF, RF this is Kate.

RF: *they shake hands* Nice to meet you.

Kate: Likewise

RF: Can I buy you two a drink?

Larry and Kate: Sure.

The three grab a big table in the corner and chat while they wait for Jack and the girls. It's now 9:30 and Larry's getting impatient. The three finally show up and Larry takes Jack aside to give him hell for being late.

Larry: Where were you man, I thought we said 8:30!

Jack: Sorry Lar, I was held up at the restaraunt cause Felipe was
late and Mr. Angelino lectured me. Then, I had to wait for Janet to finish closing up the flower shop and Terri had to finish patching an accident victim at the hospital.

Larry: Okay, okay, forget it, let's just go sit down.

Jack: What's with you tonight, I've never seen you so nervous.
Larry: I just want everything to be perfect tonight.
Jack: Alright Larry, spill your guts. What's going on.

Larry: *annoyed* Nothing, I just want you all to make a good impression.

Jack: You know, I think I saw this same thing on an episode of Maude last night. See, the maid, Mrs...Naugahyde or something like that, was trying to impress her boyfriend Bert. Oh and there was a guy on there who looked just like you.

Larry: Jack, who cares, What IS it with you people and that show? Can we go back now, I don't want to leave Kate alone.

Jack: With Furley, Janet and Terri?

Larry: No, Jack, The Spinners. What's wrong with YOU tonight?

Jack: Fine, I don't make fun of your shows though.

Larry: Shut up.

They rejoin the group.

Jack: Would somebody please hand me a napkin, Mr. Furley
keeps spilling his drink on me.

Ralph: I can't help it!

Janet: Here Jack, use mine.

Jack: It's got lipstick all over, I can't use this.

Terri: Oh fine, here, use mine, it's clean.

Ralph: No Jack don't! she works in a hospital. It's probably
got sick people germs all over it!

Terri: That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.

Larry is sitting at the table, rubbing his temples, trying NOT to lose his cool. It's not working so he takes Kate's hand and they get up.

Larry: We'll be right back.

Jack: Where you going? We just got here.

Larry: The men's room, I'll be right back.

Jack: You're taking your girlfriend with you?

Larry: Yeah why not, We go everywhere together.

Ralph: TO THE MEN'S ROOM?!

Larry: (annoyed) A little louder RF, I don't think the people outside heard you. (to Kate) C'mon.

He took her hand and they disappeared around the corner.

Terri: What's gotten into him tonight.

Janet: *chuckles* I have no idea.

Jack: Well, he said this morning that Kate's the one.
I've never seen him act this squirrely over a woman before.

In a dark corner over by the restrooms, Larry and Kate steal a moment alone. Larry holds her tightly in his arms after a few long romantic kisses.

Kate: Your friends are great Lar. I really enjoy them.

Larry: Really? thank god, I guess I can relax now. They get weird sometimes. Once things settle down a little. I'll introduce you. Oh and don't mind RF and Jack, they're not always that nutty. I don't know what their problem is tonight. I just wanted everything to be perfect tonight.

Kate: Are you kidding I love it, they seem like a lot of fun,
reminds me of home. Wait'll you meet them.

Larry: A little homesick?

Kate: Yeah, I guess that's part of why i'm quiet tonight.

Larry: *rubs her back* Yeah, I thought there was something more than being tired. I know how you feel, Believe me. I felt that way when I moved here from New York. *takes Kate's face in his hands*

Unbeknownst to them, Furley hears only half of what they're saying.

Larry: It'll get better, *leans in and kisses her softly* Trust me.

Kate: Well, now you've gone and done it. I'm jello.

Larry: Oh really? Hmm...sounds delicious. *kisses her some more*

Larry: *sees Furley who doesn't realize he's been caught*
Look, I don't want you to worry about a thing. Terri's a nurse
over at Wilshire Memorial, she can recommend a good doctor.
(whispers: Just play along and trust me)

Kate: (whispers: Okay, I'm game) No way, I'm not going through with this.

Larry: You have to or you'll die and there's no way i'm gonna let that happen.

Furley's eyes are bugged out and he runs back to the table.
Larry looks around the corner and sees that he left.

Kate: Did it work?

Larry: Oh yeah, I should probably tell you now. This is normal everyday life for us.

Kate: Really? that's funny, same thing in my family.
it made life very interesting for my parents, explains why my mother started coloring her hair so early. *laughs*

Larry: *laughs* You're gonna fit in great around here.

Kate: We should really get back, they'll be wondering where we are.

Larry: We will, in a minute, I wanna watch Furley in action first.

Kate: Okay.

Back at the table..Furley is weirder than usual.

Janet: Mr. Furley, what is wrong with you tonight?

Furley: Oh Janet, It's just too terrible to talk about, poor Larry.

Jack: What do you mean "Poor Larry" he's doing great.

Furley: Jack, you are sooo naive! *weeps*

Terri: Mr. Furley, What ARE you talking about?

Furley: I don't know if I should say anything, Larry would wanna tell you himself.

Janet: Tell us what? Is something wrong with him?

Jack: Yeah, if there is we should know about it now so we can help him.

Furley: Oh..alright...I won't go into details all I'll just say it in a few words: Doctor, Wilshire...*sniffs back tears* Die!...*breaks down*

Larry and Kate hide back in the corner and are trying to control their laughter. This going far better, than Larry ever imagined.

Janet: I'll be right back, would you order more drinks Jack?
I think we'll need them.

Jack: Good idea.

Janet slides out of the booth and heads towards the ladies room when she hears giggling. She looks over at Larry and Kate who are kissing in the corner, oblivious to everyone. She passes them and enters the ladies room, after closing the door, she hears talking.
Larry: (whispering to Kate) let's make this good. Janet just passed by.

Kate: *nods* (whispers back) Okay.

Larry: Shhh... not so loud.

Kate: I can't help myself Larrybear. I'm jello.

Larry: Can't it wait til we're back at my place?

Kate: No, I don't think I can wait that long.
We don't have alot of time together.

Janet can't believe it. Mr. Furley was right, Poor Larry is dying. She tries not to cry as she wipes the tears away and quickly fixes her make-up.

She takes a couple of deep breaths and exits the bathroom as Kate enters to compose her giggles. Janet thinks she's been crying. Larry approaches Janet to greet her.

Larry: Hey Janet, how's the flower shop?

Janet: Um..*wipes eyes* it's okay.

Larry: Janet what's wrong? *he puts his hand on her shoulder* Is that jerk Compton giving you a rough time again?

Janet: Oh no, it's just allergies. I'm okay.

Larry: Are you sure?

Janet: Yes, of course, I should ask you that question.

Larry: Me? Why, I couldn't be better.

Janet: *starts crying* You're so brave.

She runs past Jack, Terri and Furley and out the door.

Larry: *thinking to himself* I should really stop this before it goes too far.

He knocks on the ladies room door and calls out Kate's name.
She opens the door and pulls him in.

Jack: Oh no, it's true, I better go make sure Janet's okay.

Terri: I'll be right back, will you be okay alone here Mr. Furley?

Ralph: Oh yeah, I'm okay now, Thanks Terri, I think i'll go home though.

Terri: Okay *pats him on the back* Try not to worry, I'll find out what's going on here.

Back in the ladies room, Larry is amazed at how much nicer it is than the men's room. Terri stops at the door when she hears his voice on the other side. She was rather disgusted that he couldn't control his urges.

Larry: I really shouldn't be in here. Hey, this isn't fair, this is alot nicer than the men's room and chairs, we don't have chairs.

Kate: Yes you do. *motions towards the stalls*

Terri was about to walk away, but, she needed to know what was going on so she listened at the door.

Larry: *smiles* You're sick, you know that don't you.

Kate: I know, you're pretty sick too.

Larry: Yeah, I know.

Kate: Me too.

Terri is now very upset and catches Mr. Furley before he leaves.

Terri: Oh Mr. Furley, you were right all along. They're both sick.

Mr. Furley: You mean Larry's sick too? Oh no!

Larry opens the door and checks to make sure nobody sees him walking out of the ladies room.

Larry: I better get out there before they send out a search
party, you coming?

Kate: Yeah in a minute.

Larry: Okay, I'll probably be at the bar.

Larry walks out and looks for his friends. He sees Terri and Furley leaving and runs up to them.

Larry: Hey you guys, where ya going? Terri? RF? Hey!

He stands in front of them and blocks their path out the door.

Larry: Terri, what's wrong?

Terri: Would you please move, I'd rather you not see me cry.

Furley: Yeah me too! *runs out in tears*

Larry: What's wrong with him?

Terri: I don't know. *On the verge of tears herself*

Larry: Terri *puts hands on her shoulders* What's the matter, you act like somebody just died.

Terri: Oh Larry! *sobbing* I'm so sorry!

Larry: *holding her* There there Terri, it'll be alright.

Mike the bartender gives Larry a strange look. Larry shrugs his
shoulders and goes back to consoling Terri. Kate approaches her
fiancee and Terri with a concerned look

Kate: Larry? What's wrong with her?

Larry: That's what I'm trying to find out.

Kate: (to Larry) can I talk to you for a sec.

Larry: Yeah, sure. (to Terri) I'll be right back.

Terri: No, it's okay, I need to go home. *runs out the door*

Larry: Terri! Wait, it's too late for!...

Terri: Oh my god...*runs down the street crying*

Larry: C'mon let's go.

Kate: Right behind you.

They get in Larry's car and follow Terri, beeping the horn. Being upset and not thinking clearly, she thinks it's trouble.

Larry leans out the window and calls out her name. How they knew her name, was unnerving. Larry finally pulled the car over. Kate got out and stopped Terri. Larry got out of the driver's side and approached her.

Larry: Hey, it's just us. Why did you keep running?

Terri: *in between tears* I thought you were a mugger.

Larry: First of all, muggers don't have their girlfriends with them on the job and second they usually don't drive around when they mug people.

Kate: Besides, Lar wouldn't hurt a fly, not unless it was asking for it.

Larry: Exactly..wait..what?

Kate: Forget it, nevermind.

Larry: Anyway, the reason we were following you is because it's late
and we didn't want you walking home alone. So get in the car and
we'll take you home.

Terri: Fine, i'm too tired to argue.

She gets in the back and they head back to the apartments. They get out and Terri sulks into apt. 201. Larry and Kate head up to his place. They enter the apartment and get ready for bed.

Downstairs, Terri is telling Jack and Janet what she heard and Jack wants to go up and talk to his best friend himself.

Janet: But Jack, it's late, they're probably sleeping or something.

Jack: Yeah, you have a point there. They probably want to get in as much fun as they can before the end. *bites his knuckle*

Terri: Oh Jack, don't be afraid to cry. We all love Larry and Kate is such a sweet girl. It's all very tragic.

Jack: I think we should all just go to bed. G'night girls.

Jack sulks into his bedroom and closes the door.

Janet: He is really taking this hard, He didn't even try to go to bed with us.

Terri: Those two guys have been friends forever haven't they?

Janet: They sure have. We all have, I can't even think of Larry not being around anymore.

Back at Larry's, the lights are off and they're lying awake in bed.

Kate: Hey Lar?

Larry: What.

Kate: Don't you feel bad about how upset everyone got tonight?

Larry: Yeah, but, it's too late to do anything now.
I'll fix everything in the morning.

Kate: *sighs heavily* okay, g'night *they kiss, she cuddles close to him falling asleep*

Larry: Night Babe. *he holds her close*

End of Part 1

Larry In Love

Recap:

Larry and Kate meet his friends at The Regal Beagle to announce
their engagement.

Jack and Furley are acting really weird. While stealing a private moment by the restrooms. Larry spots Furley eavesdropping and enlists Kate's help in teaching Furley a little lesson which sparks a "misunderstanding" among the group.

Furley thinks Kate is very sick, Jack and Janet think Larry is dying and after Terri's update, They all think Kate AND Larry are dying. It's up to Larry to straighten things out before there's an operation or a funeral or both.

It's morning and Larry's sitting up in bed drinking coffee, while Kate sleeps. He glances at his alarm clock and realizes it's about time she woke up.

Larry: *shaking her gently* Kate...Honey?

Kate: (mumbling) Whaaaa...

Larry: *gently rubbing her back* It's time to get up, C'mon sleepyhead.

Kate: (groggily) Leemee alone Mom...I'm too sick to go to school today.

Larry: *looks down at his chest and back at her* I'm not your
mother, it's Lar.

Kate: (groggily) Ok, leemee alone Lar, I don't wanna...

Larry: C'mon get up, I have to straighten things out.

Kate: (more awake) Why do I have to get up for that?

Larry: Because this is a sofa bed and I don't want to fold you up in it.

Kate: Ah, I don't get why...Ooh coffee, Thanks.

Larry: You're welcome.

Downstairs at 201. Jack, Janet and Terri are sitting at
the kitchen table gloomy and groggy.

Terri: Did anybody sleep last night?

All Three: Nooo.....

Jack: Look, whatever happens, we need to be strong for them.

Janet: Tell that to Mr. Furley.

Jack: You got a point there. He's not exactly a pillar of strength.

Terri: That's the understatement of the year.

The doorbell rings, Terri answers it and it's Furley.

RF: Do you kids have any coffee left?

Jack: *entering from the kitchen* You couldn't sleep either?

RF: No, I've been crying into my pillow all night.

All four of them are sitting around looking pitiful and depressed
Larry rings the doorbell.

Jack: That's probably him, remember be strong *opens the door*
Oh Larry! *breaks down and hugs his best friend*

Larry: Jacko, what's with you lately!

Janet: What was that about being strong for Larry?

Larry: Huh? What's going on around here.

Ralph: You don't have to be so brave, you can lean on us.

Larry: *tries to move with Jack holding on to him* What...Jack let go of me.
c'mon everybody sit down. I've got something to say.

Janet: You can always talk to us.

Terri: We love you Lar.

The girls go to hug him, but, he backs away.

Larry: Hold it! Back off! You can hug me after I get this off my chest.
so everybody just sit down and shut up.

They sit watching Larry pace as he tries to find the right words.

Larry: I know why you're all acting this way.

Jack: We were hoping you wouldn't catch on. We're trying to be so strong for you in your's and Kate's delicate condition.

Larry: Delicate Condition? What the...

Furley: Yeah, Larry, you're dying remember?

Larry: No i'm not, where'd you get that idea?

Janet: Really?? are you sure?

Larry: Yes! I'm fine.

Terri: Oh what a relief, But, what about Kate? how long does she have.
That poor girl.

Larry: That's why I came down here. Last night, when she and I left the table, we wanted a just a few minutes alone together. I noticed RF around the corner, eavesdropping. So we sorta played a trick on him.
That's what caused this whole mess.

Furley: Well now wait a minute, what was all this, "Trust me it'll get
better." jazz.

Larry: Mr. Furley, I was reassuring her because she was feeling homesick.

Furley: Yeah, but, she said "I'm not going through with this"
and you said "If you don't you're gonna die." and all this stuff about
Terri knowing good doctors.

Jack: Yeah, what was all that?

Janet: Explain yourself Larry!

Terri: Yeah!

Larry: That's was all my idea to get back at him for listening in. She just played along. Nobody is dying around here! She and I are both
okay, I swear.

Jack: Larry, you jerk! you had us all worried for nothing.

Terri: You made me think you were a mobile mugger!

Janet: You made me mess up my mascara.

Furley: Me too! I mean, NO! You made me cry!

Jack: You made us all lose sleep last night!

They start closing in on him with pillows.

Janet: Well, what do you have to say for yourself?

Larry: Hold that thought *hollers up the stairs* Kate!? C'mon down!

Kate goes to run down the stairs, trips, does a tumble down the stairs.

Kate: Um...Ow! *gets up and brushes herself off* Everything settled Larrybear?

Larry: That's one of her little pet names for me. Are you okay?

Kate: It's nothing, Don't break the mood.

Larry: Janet, Terri, RF, Jack I have an announcement to make.

All Four: Yeah?

Larry: A couple days ago, I proposed to Kate and she said...Yes!
I'M GETTING MARRIED GANG!! Now you can hug me!

They all run up and hug him and then hit him with pillows

Jack: You scared the hell out of us Larry!

Larry: I know, i'm sorry.

Jack: Well, I guess we understand why you did it.

Furley: I'm sorry I eavesdropped Larry. I guess I had it coming.

Larry: Yeah, you did, but, I shouldn't have let it go on this long.

Kate: You're not alone in this, I went along with it. I'm sorry too everyone.

Terri: Well, It's okay, it was a dirty trick, but don't worry, none of us hold grudges.

Janet: It ended happily, You two are getting married. *she hugs Kate and Larry*

They celebrate by taking Kate to the hospital for X-rays and then out to dinner some seafood place on the pier. Jack orders champagne and they all toast the happy couple.

Later on, back at Larry's apartment, He's helping Kate get comfortable and Furley's listening outside the door. That man never learns.

Kate: A couple more outta do it Larrybear.

Furley: (Outside the door) Oh my god! You people are animals!!

Larry and Kate: (annoyed) Goodnight RF!!

They shake their heads and the scene fades out.

Ending Credits shown over the gang leaving the zoo.

Hey Katie, you really did a great job!

I love the misunderstanding between Larry and the gang and the way you made it feel just like a real episode.

It must go without saying that you had a lot of fun writing this one up.

Yeah, I had a ball writing this. I just tried picturing it in my head and then typing it out. That's what made it like a real episode to me.

Larry: You should've called me, I would've kept you awake. Kate: Wait til we're married, you can keep me awake all you want. Larry: I plan on it, Oh and cool it with the marriage talk when we get inside. I want it to be a surprise when I tell them. *They walk in and sit at the bar for a few drinks while they wait for Jack, Janet and Terri to arrive. Mr. Furley sees them and approaches.* Ralph Furley: Hey Larry, who's your date? Larry: She's not just my date RF. Ralph: Oh, well are you going to tell me her name or do I have to use my psychic powers. Larry: raises a skeptical brow Psychic powers? that's not necessary, I'll introduce you. Kate, this is my landlord, Ralph Furley. We call him Mr. Furley or RF, RF this is Kate. RF: they shake hands Nice to meet you. Kate: Likewise RF: Can I buy you two a drink? Larry and Kate: Sure. The three grab a big table in the corner and chat while they wait for Jack and the girls. It's now 9:30 and Larry's getting impatient. The three finally show up and Larry takes Jack aside to give him hell for being late. Larry: Where were you man, I thought we said 8:30! Jack: Sorry Lar, I was held up at the restaraunt cause Felipe was late and Mr. Angelino lectured me. Then, I had to wait for Janet to finish closing up the flower shop and Terri had to finish patching an accident victim at the hospital. Larry: Okay, okay, forget it, let's just go sit down. Jack: What's with you tonight, I've never seen you so nervous. Larry: I just want everything to be perfect tonight. Jack: Alright Larry, spill your guts. What's going on. Larry: annoyed Nothing, I just want you all to make a good impression. Jack: You know, I think I saw this same thing on an episode of Maude last night. See, the maid, Mrs...Naugahyde or something like that, was trying to impress her boyfriend Bert. Oh and there was a guy on there who looked just like you. Larry: Jack, who cares, What IS it with you people and that show? Can we go back now, I don't want to leave Kate alone. Jack: With Furley, Janet and Terri? Larry: No, Jack, The Spinners. What's wrong with YOU tonight? Jack: Fine, I don't make fun of your shows though. Larry: Shut up. *They rejoin the group.* Jack: Would somebody please hand me a napkin, Mr. Furley keeps spilling his drink on me. Ralph: I can't help it! Janet: Here Jack, use mine. Jack: It's got lipstick all over, I can't use this. Terri: Oh fine, here, use mine, it's clean. Ralph: No Jack don't! she works in a hospital. It's probably got sick people germs all over it! Terri: That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Larry is sitting at the table, rubbing his temples, trying NOT to lose his cool. It's not working so he takes Kate's hand and they get up. Larry: We'll be right back. Jack: Where you going? We just got here. Larry: The men's room, I'll be right back. Jack: You're taking your girlfriend with you? Larry: Yeah why not, We go everywhere together. Ralph: TO THE MEN'S ROOM?! Larry: (annoyed) A little louder RF, I don't think the people outside heard you. (to Kate) C'mon. *He took her hand and they disappeared around the corner.* Terri: What's gotten into him tonight. Janet: chuckles I have no idea. Jack: Well, he said this morning that Kate's the one. I've never seen him act this squirrely over a woman before. *In a dark corner over by the restrooms, Larry and Kate steal a moment alone. Larry holds her tightly in his arms after a few long romantic kisses.* Kate: Your friends are great Lar. I really enjoy them. Larry: Really? thank god, I guess I can relax now. They get weird sometimes. Once things settle down a little. I'll introduce you. Oh and don't mind RF and Jack, they're not always that nutty. I don't know what their problem is tonight. I just wanted everything to be perfect tonight. Kate: Are you kidding I love it, they seem like a lot of fun, reminds me of home. Wait'll you meet them. Larry: A little homesick? Kate: Yeah, I guess that's part of why i'm quiet tonight. Larry: rubs her back Yeah, I thought there was something more than being tired. I know how you feel, Believe me. I felt that way when I moved here from New York. takes Kate's face in his hands *Unbeknownst to them, Furley hears only half of what they're saying.* Larry: It'll get better, leans in and kisses her softly Trust me. Kate: Well, now you've gone and done it. I'm jello. Larry: Oh really? Hmm...sounds delicious. kisses her some more Larry: sees Furley who doesn't realize he's been caught Look, I don't want you to worry about a thing. Terri's a nurse over at Wilshire Memorial, she can recommend a good doctor. (whispers: Just play along and trust me) Kate: (whispers: Okay, I'm game) No way, I'm not going through with this. Larry: You have to or you'll die and there's no way i'm gonna let that happen. Furley's eyes are bugged out and he runs back to the table. Larry looks around the corner and sees that he left. Kate: Did it work? Larry: Oh yeah, I should probably tell you now. This is normal everyday life for us. Kate: Really? that's funny, same thing in my family. it made life very interesting for my parents, explains why my mother started coloring her hair so early. laughs Larry: laughs You're gonna fit in great around here. Kate: We should really get back, they'll be wondering where we are. Larry: We will, in a minute, I wanna watch Furley in action first. Kate: Okay. *Back at the table..Furley is weirder than usual.* Janet: Mr. Furley, what is wrong with you tonight? Furley: Oh Janet, It's just too terrible to talk about, poor Larry. Jack: What do you mean "Poor Larry" he's doing great. Furley: Jack, you are sooo naive! weeps Terri: Mr. Furley, What ARE you talking about? Furley: I don't know if I should say anything, Larry would wanna tell you himself. Janet: Tell us what? Is something wrong with him? Jack: Yeah, if there is we should know about it now so we can help him. Furley: Oh..alright...I won't go into details all I'll just say it in a few words: Doctor, Wilshire...sniffs back tears Die!...breaks down *Larry and Kate hide back in the corner and are trying to control their laughter. This going far better, than Larry ever imagined.* Janet: I'll be right back, would you order more drinks Jack? I think we'll need them. Jack: Good idea. Janet slides out of the booth and heads towards the ladies room when she hears giggling. She looks over at Larry and Kate who are kissing in the corner, oblivious to everyone. She passes them and enters the ladies room, after closing the door, she hears talking. Larry: (whispering to Kate) let's make this good. Janet just passed by. Kate: nods (whispers back) Okay. Larry: Shhh... not so loud. Kate: I can't help myself Larrybear. I'm jello. Larry: Can't it wait til we're back at my place? Kate: No, I don't think I can wait that long. We don't have alot of time together. Janet can't believe it. Mr. Furley was right, Poor Larry is dying. She tries not to cry as she wipes the tears away and quickly fixes her make-up. She takes a couple of deep breaths and exits the bathroom as Kate enters to compose her giggles. Janet thinks she's been crying. Larry approaches Janet to greet her. Larry: Hey Janet, how's the flower shop? Janet: Um..wipes eyes it's okay. Larry: Janet what's wrong? he puts his hand on her shoulder Is that jerk Compton giving you a rough time again? Janet: Oh no, it's just allergies. I'm okay. Larry: Are you sure? Janet: Yes, of course, I should ask you that question. Larry: Me? Why, I couldn't be better. Janet: starts crying You're so brave. *She runs past Jack, Terri and Furley and out the door.* Larry: thinking to himself I should really stop this before it goes too far. He knocks on the ladies room door and calls out Kate's name. She opens the door and pulls him in. Jack: Oh no, it's true, I better go make sure Janet's okay. Terri: I'll be right back, will you be okay alone here Mr. Furley? Ralph: Oh yeah, I'm okay now, Thanks Terri, I think i'll go home though. Terri: Okay pats him on the back Try not to worry, I'll find out what's going on here. Back in the ladies room, Larry is amazed at how much nicer it is than the men's room. Terri stops at the door when she hears his voice on the other side. She was rather disgusted that he couldn't control his urges. Larry: I really shouldn't be in here. Hey, this isn't fair, this is alot nicer than the men's room and chairs, we don't have chairs. Kate: Yes you do. motions towards the stalls *Terri was about to walk away, but, she needed to know what was going on so she listened at the door.* Larry: smiles You're sick, you know that don't you. Kate: I know, you're pretty sick too. Larry: Yeah, I know. Kate: Me too. *Terri is now very upset and catches Mr. Furley before he leaves.* Terri: Oh Mr. Furley, you were right all along. They're both sick. Mr. Furley: You mean Larry's sick too? Oh no! *Larry opens the door and checks to make sure nobody sees him walking out of the ladies room.* Larry: I better get out there before they send out a search party, you coming? Kate: Yeah in a minute. Larry: Okay, I'll probably be at the bar. Larry walks out and looks for his friends. He sees Terri and Furley leaving and runs up to them. Larry: Hey you guys, where ya going? Terri? RF? Hey! *He stands in front of them and blocks their path out the door.* Larry: Terri, what's wrong? Terri: Would you please move, I'd rather you not see me cry. Furley: Yeah me too! runs out in tears Larry: What's wrong with him? Terri: I don't know. On the verge of tears herself Larry: Terri puts hands on her shoulders What's the matter, you act like somebody just died. Terri: Oh Larry! sobbing I'm so sorry! Larry: holding her There there Terri, it'll be alright. Mike the bartender gives Larry a strange look. Larry shrugs his shoulders and goes back to consoling Terri. Kate approaches her fiancee and Terri with a concerned look Kate: Larry? What's wrong with her? Larry: That's what I'm trying to find out. Kate: (to Larry) can I talk to you for a sec. Larry: Yeah, sure. (to Terri) I'll be right back. Terri: No, it's okay, I need to go home. runs out the door Larry: Terri! Wait, it's too late for!... Terri: Oh my god...runs down the street crying Larry: C'mon let's go. Kate: Right behind you. They get in Larry's car and follow Terri, beeping the horn. Being upset and not thinking clearly, she thinks it's trouble. Larry leans out the window and calls out her name. How they knew her name, was unnerving. Larry finally pulled the car over. Kate got out and stopped Terri. Larry got out of the driver's side and approached her. Larry: Hey, it's just us. Why did you keep running? Terri: in between tears I thought you were a mugger. Larry: First of all, muggers don't have their girlfriends with them on the job and second they usually don't drive around when they mug people. Kate: Besides, Lar wouldn't hurt a fly, not unless it was asking for it. Larry: Exactly..wait..what? Kate: Forget it, nevermind. Larry: Anyway, the reason we were following you is because it's late and we didn't want you walking home alone. So get in the car and we'll take you home. Terri: Fine, i'm too tired to argue. She gets in the back and they head back to the apartments. They get out and Terri sulks into apt. 201. Larry and Kate head up to his place. They enter the apartment and get ready for bed. Downstairs, Terri is telling Jack and Janet what she heard and Jack wants to go up and talk to his best friend himself. Janet: But Jack, it's late, they're probably sleeping or something. Jack: Yeah, you have a point there. They probably want to get in as much fun as they can before the end. bites his knuckle Terri: Oh Jack, don't be afraid to cry. We all love Larry and Kate is such a sweet girl. It's all very tragic. Jack: I think we should all just go to bed. G'night girls. *Jack sulks into his bedroom and closes the door.* Janet: He is really taking this hard, He didn't even try to go to bed with us. Terri: Those two guys have been friends forever haven't they? Janet: They sure have. We all have, I can't even think of Larry not being around anymore. *Back at Larry's, the lights are off and they're lying awake in bed.* Kate: Hey Lar? Larry: What. Kate: Don't you feel bad about how upset everyone got tonight? Larry: Yeah, but, it's too late to do anything now. I'll fix everything in the morning. Kate: sighs heavily okay, g'night they kiss, she cuddles close to him falling asleep Larry: Night Babe. he holds her close End of Part 1

Jack and Furley are acting really weird. While stealing a private moment by the restrooms. Larry spots Furley eavesdropping and enlists Kate's help in teaching Furley a little lesson which sparks a "misunderstanding" among the group. Furley thinks Kate is very sick, Jack and Janet think Larry is dying and after Terri's update, They all think Kate AND Larry are dying. It's up to Larry to straighten things out before there's an operation or a funeral or both. It's morning and Larry's sitting up in bed drinking coffee, while Kate sleeps. He glances at his alarm clock and realizes it's about time she woke up. Larry: shaking her gently Kate...Honey? Kate: (mumbling) Whaaaa... Larry: gently rubbing her back It's time to get up, C'mon sleepyhead. Kate: (groggily) Leemee alone Mom...I'm too sick to go to school today. Larry: looks down at his chest and back at her I'm not your mother, it's Lar. Kate: (groggily) Ok, leemee alone Lar, I don't wanna... Larry: C'mon get up, I have to straighten things out. Kate: (more awake) Why do I have to get up for that? Larry: Because this is a sofa bed and I don't want to fold you up in it. Kate: Ah, I don't get why...Ooh coffee, Thanks. Larry: You're welcome. Downstairs at 201. Jack, Janet and Terri are sitting at the kitchen table gloomy and groggy. Terri: Did anybody sleep last night? All Three: Nooo..... Jack: Look, whatever happens, we need to be strong for them. Janet: Tell that to Mr. Furley. Jack: You got a point there. He's not exactly a pillar of strength. Terri: That's the understatement of the year. The doorbell rings, Terri answers it and it's Furley. RF: Do you kids have any coffee left? Jack: entering from the kitchen You couldn't sleep either? RF: No, I've been crying into my pillow all night. All four of them are sitting around looking pitiful and depressed Larry rings the doorbell. Jack: That's probably him, remember be strong opens the door Oh Larry! breaks down and hugs his best friend Larry: Jacko, what's with you lately! Janet: What was that about being strong for Larry? Larry: Huh? What's going on around here. Ralph: You don't have to be so brave, you can lean on us. Larry: tries to move with Jack holding on to him What...Jack let go of me. c'mon everybody sit down. I've got something to say. Janet: You can always talk to us. Terri: We love you Lar. *The girls go to hug him, but, he backs away.* Larry: Hold it! Back off! You can hug me after I get this off my chest. so everybody just sit down and shut up. *They sit watching Larry pace as he tries to find the right words.* Larry: I know why you're all acting this way. Jack: We were hoping you wouldn't catch on. We're trying to be so strong for you in your's and Kate's delicate condition. Larry: Delicate Condition? What the... Furley: Yeah, Larry, you're dying remember? Larry: No i'm not, where'd you get that idea? Janet: Really?? are you sure? Larry: Yes! I'm fine. Terri: Oh what a relief, But, what about Kate? how long does she have. That poor girl. Larry: That's why I came down here. Last night, when she and I left the table, we wanted a just a few minutes alone together. I noticed RF around the corner, eavesdropping. So we sorta played a trick on him. That's what caused this whole mess. Furley: Well now wait a minute, what was all this, "Trust me it'll get better." jazz. Larry: Mr. Furley, I was reassuring her because she was feeling homesick. Furley: Yeah, but, she said "I'm not going through with this" and you said "If you don't you're gonna die." and all this stuff about Terri knowing good doctors. Jack: Yeah, what was all that? Janet: Explain yourself Larry! Terri: Yeah! Larry: That's was all my idea to get back at him for listening in. She just played along. Nobody is dying around here! She and I are both okay, I swear. Jack: Larry, you jerk! you had us all worried for nothing. Terri: You made me think you were a mobile mugger! Janet: You made me mess up my mascara. Furley: Me too! I mean, NO! You made me cry! Jack: You made us all lose sleep last night! *They start closing in on him with pillows.* Janet: Well, what do you have to say for yourself? Larry: Hold that thought hollers up the stairs Kate!? C'mon down! Kate goes to run down the stairs, trips, does a tumble down the stairs. Kate: Um...Ow! gets up and brushes herself off Everything settled Larrybear? Larry: That's one of her little pet names for me. Are you okay? Kate: It's nothing, Don't break the mood. Larry: Janet, Terri, RF, Jack I have an announcement to make. All Four: Yeah? Larry: A couple days ago, I proposed to Kate and she said...Yes! I'M GETTING MARRIED GANG!! Now you can hug me! *They all run up and hug him and then hit him with pillows* Jack: You scared the hell out of us Larry! Larry: I know, i'm sorry. Jack: Well, I guess we understand why you did it. Furley: I'm sorry I eavesdropped Larry. I guess I had it coming. Larry: Yeah, you did, but, I shouldn't have let it go on this long. Kate: You're not alone in this, I went along with it. I'm sorry too everyone. Terri: Well, It's okay, it was a dirty trick, but don't worry, none of us hold grudges. Janet: It ended happily, You two are getting married. she hugs Kate and Larry They celebrate by taking Kate to the hospital for X-rays and then out to dinner some seafood place on the pier. Jack orders champagne and they all toast the happy couple. Later on, back at Larry's apartment, He's helping Kate get comfortable and Furley's listening outside the door. That man never learns. Kate: A couple more outta do it Larrybear. Furley: (Outside the door) Oh my god! You people are animals!! Larry and Kate: (annoyed) Goodnight RF!! They shake their heads and the scene fades out. Ending Credits shown over the gang leaving the zoo.
