Other than "The Golden Girls" what
other film or tv show did you like
Estelle Getty in?

I absolutely loved her in "Stop or My
Mother Will Shoot". That movie was
hilarious, I could not stop laughing.

I think she was good in "Stop" but don't remember any other movies she was in. In "Empty Nest", I never could figure out
why she just popped in all the time.

Estelle Getty, if I recall, didn't make a film/TV debut until the GG. She had been a Broadway actress for several years. She became famous for her role in "Torch Song Trilogy."

I *LOVED* her in Mannequin. My favorite line she said was "I don't care if he runs around here naked yelling 'HI I'M A SQUID!'"
(I think I need to see that movie again, I may have misquoted slightly.)

At any rate, a few of the walk on roles in shows have been as Sophia, you notice? Or herself. I guess Sophia still gets a good laugh...
