MAMA SOLIS' CONDITION CHANGES, AND LYNETTE BEFRIENDS A DEAF WOMAN WHOSE KIDS GO TO BARCLIFF, ON ABC'S "DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES"

Lupe Ontiveros Returns as Mama Solis and Oscar Winner Marlee Matlin Guest Stars as Alisa Stevens

"There Won't Be Trumpets" - There's a change in Mama Solis' (guest star Lupe Ontiveros) condition; Lynette befriends a deaf woman, Alisa (guest star, Academy Award winning actress Marlee Matlin), whose children also attend Barcliff; Bree encounters more trouble with son Andrew; and Susan finds herself attracted to Edie's hunky new contractor (guest star Rick Ravanello), on "Desperate Housewives," SUNDAY, APRIL 3 (9:00-10:02 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

"Desperate Housewives" stars Teri Hatcher as Susan Mayer, Felicity Huffman as Lynette Scavo, Marcia Cross as Bree Van De Kamp, Eva Longoria as Gabrielle Solis, Nicollette Sheridan as Edie Britt, Steven Culp as Rex Van De Kamp, Ricardo Antonio Chavira as Carlos Solis, Mark Moses as Paul Young, Andrea Bowen as Julie Mayer, Jesse Metcalfe as John, Cody Kasch as Zach Young, Brenda Strong as Mary Alice Young and James Denton as Mike Delfino.

Guest starring are Doug Savant as Tom Scavo, Zane Huette as Parker Scavo, Brent Kinsman as Preston Scavo, Shane Kinsman as Porter Scavo, Shawn Pyfrom as Andrew Van De Kamp, Joy Lauren as Danielle Van De Kamp, Lupe Ontiveros as Juanita Solis, Marlee Matlin as Alisa Stevems, Albie Selznick as Dennis Stevens, Aria Wallace as Lily Stevens, Rick Ravanello as Bill Cunningham, Mark L. Taylor as Mr. Taylor, Jeff Doucette as Father Crowley, Trisha Simmons as Principal Star and Derk Cheetwood as the security guard.

"There Won't Be Trumpets" was written by Joey Murphy & John Pardee, and directed by Jeff Melman.

"Desperate Housewives" is broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC's selected HDTV format, with 5.1-channel surround sound.

This program carries a TV-PG,D,L parental guideline.

TV Guide description:

Marlee Matlin moves into the neighborhood for a hilarious guest appearance. The oscar winner plays Alissa, a deaf woman Lynette befriends at their kids' class recital. Soon the Scavos are hosting a small dinner for Alissa and her husband, who stuns Lynette by bad-mouthing his lip-reading wife whenever she's not looking. Ironically, it turns out to be Lynette's mouth that ends up causing even more trouble for both couples, and speaking of troubled couples, it looks like a tragedy may be the very thing to return Gaby and Carlos to their former lush lifestyle.

WOW... that was an interesting hour.

Susan getting into the wreck over Bill was hilarious...

The Mama Solis "death" was quite fascinating. Falling down the stairs... interesting way to die, especially after being hit by a car and in a coma for 5 months.

Looks like John is back next week... preview transcript soon.

Is it me or did the cut outs to the commercials seem weird...

Yes... the commericals were crammed together too. There were at least two where there was only 4-5 minutes between the end of a break and the beginning of a new one. I miss the old days when there were less commericals.

Something about this episode was different... I can't place it. I don't feel like saying much either.

The episode was excellent as usual, though not as good as some recent ones. Mama Solis--what a way to end it. Gabby is evil, in a good way, I guess. Come on Susan, read that letter! Hopefully Mike just comes and tell her next time.

I was hoping Mama would tell Carlos. It would have made it interesting I guess we won't know everything about Mike until May. Overall it was another great episode.

No... According to TVGuide.com April 17th is a repeat of "Love Is In the Air"(Valentine's Day episode), and then April 24th-May 22nd(finale night) is all-new

I assumed when the commercials said "the first of 7 all new episodes" they meant back to back.

I enjoyed the hour but I did think too much was crammed into it. I have felt this way in the past. I reckon the producers/writers feel they have to keep the twists and turns coming, a few every episode, in order to keep interest in the show up. Not so. Next week's episode looks even worse in terms of mysteries revealed and whatnot.

Yeah... but I knew they had to skip a week for episodes to air on every Sunday of sweeps. It's kind of false advertising, but there will still be 7 all-new episodes.
