Default What Has Made 3s company last so long?

This stuation comedy that changed the face of all sitcoms to come after it 3s company has become a phenomenon and is just as popular if not more than when it was in 1st runs, but even though we do not owe the credit to 3s company as the original idea for this kind of comedy and credit is owed to the britcom man about the house where the idea for threes company was taken, we do owe credit of 3s companys popularity to its cast most important being john ritter and joyce dewitt, but all of the cast has contributed in alot of ways to its success and remaining popularity, this is of course my opinion and doesnt reflect the opinions of other sitcoms members.

So what do you think has made 3s company the phenom it is?

The comedy is timeless. The actors are all great and they make you care about the characters. When I watched it originally I thought of them sort of like an extended family. When I was down I would watch them and I would cheer up. Thats something the critics of the time never understood. Its like Lucille Ball said, All Three's Company ever did was make us laugh and thats why we love it.

I agree with what Nighthawk said- it's a timeless comedy. Simple, loveable, and crosses generations. It's just something you can laugh at again and again. I personally think this show was VERY clever in the way it was written-- the dialogue and jokes were just perfect. Add some of the most talented and warm-hearted actors/actresses in the business, and you've got pure magic

It's HILARIOUS!!! You can't find shows like that anymore.. anywhere. And the actors were GREAT and had great chemistry, and the writing was classic, all you find now is YUCKY reality shows

I agree.....some of the critics denounced it as "trash"...well, compared to MOST of the shows today, I'd say "Three's Company" is one of the most intelligent comedies I've seen....well, ever!

I like TC because whenever I feel upset, I can always count on TC to cheer me up. And I know it's always going to be there. The actors were so talented with their characters. And in the final years with SS you couldn't tell that there was something going on behind the scenes. I think that is why everyone was so shocked when they dropped SS from the show because the actors didn't show it on camera. Sometimes I forget that it is just a half hour sitcom! The cast, to me, make it seem so real. They would do anything for a laugh! And it really worked!! And it still works today! I love the way the characters really looked out for each other. I love any episode where Jack is very caring to the girls. Like "Some Of That Jazz", "Star Struck", "Cupid Works Overtime", "Jack Bares All", I could go on and on!! I love seeing that side of John!! But it makes me miss him more and more. Watching Three's Company helps me escape from this world and into a world with more love, more care, and more laughs! And it's better to have a sitcom to turn to for comfort, than drugs, drinking, or sex.

I think what everyone has said on here just about clears everything up. And everything is so true. I mean, first off, you have all these talented actors and actresses on the show. That is a definite plus. They all knew what they were doing on the show. And they played the characters so well, that it makes you feel like you've known them for so long. And I know that when I'm really down, I just watch the show and it brightens up my whole day. The show is just so heart-warming and so humorous. Not to mention it has the most handsome man ever in the entire earth; John Ritter. And not only that, but the show has gone through it's ups and downs, and gone through a different number of characters, but yet it still managed to have 8 whole seasons. And the cast had an amazing chemistry. So in all, the show is an irreplacable, heart-warming, funny, loving show. And that is why we all love the show.

The reason why "Three's Company" lasted so long was because the cast went perfect with each other, and they had a great amount of chemistry. The actors all acted very well, and they made the audience forget that the show was just a sitcom, and not actually real. I also think that the one and only, John Ritter had A LOT to do with the sitcom's success. His physical comedy and crazy antics is what made the show so hysterical. Now, I'm not saying that John Ritter was the only reason people watched the show, because everyone knows that each character contributed in their own way to the show's greatness. But if you take away the character of Jack Tripper, "Three's Company" really wouldn't be "Three's Company" anymore. They took away Chrissy Snow, and the show still continued. Of course, it was never the same, but there are many people out there that preferred the Terri years to the Chrissy years (some may even like the Cindy years). I think, however, that if you took the character of Janet Wood away, "Three's Company" would never be the same as well. It was the way they all went so well together, that's what made "Three's Company" last so long.
