Wow! "Carol Burnett & Friends" was a great show. TV Land still airs the show since channel 5 (WNEW-TV) used to air reruns back in the 80's. The original "Kojak" with Telly Salvalas was on at 3:30 AM before the station sign off right up until 5:30 AM. And let's not forget "Hanna-Barbera's World of Super Adventure" show that has been in syndication for years. I've never seen that show in years. Great memory from the channel 5, WNEW-TV Metromedia days since it was pre-Fox until 1986. That was three years before channel 5 launched its Fox Network as well as many stations carried.

I noticed that the short lived talk show Thicke of the Night was listed in late night on Channel 5. It was an effort to bring Alan Thicke's successful Canadian talk show to the United States but it turned out to be a massive flop against Johnny Carson's Tonight Show. What did actually replace Thicke of the Night? Thicke did redeem himself on the hit ABC sitcom Growing Pains and hosted the network's Saturday morning game show Animal Crackups, a role that he was best suited for.

Channel 5's schedule was revised a bit in Dec. of '83. "Batman" was added at 4:30 (replacing "What's Happening!"), and "One Day at a Time" shifted to 6:30, replacing "Taxi", which moved to 11PM, bumping the late-night edition of "M*A*S*H".
