Default Does anyone know any mad geniuses?

Just wondered...I unfortunately don't, and I wondered if anyone here did. I don't mean "mad" as in mentally ill, I mean "mad" as in eccentric Doc Brown mad.

Actually, a thought - my science teacher last year was a little eccentric. He didn't act completely loopy, but once sellotaped the door up for a joke. He was a very interesting man.

Doc: Don't worry! As long as you hit that wire with the connecting hook at precisely 88 miles per hour, the instant the lightning strikes the tower, everything will be fine!

I once had a mad genius science teacher... although he wasn't really a genius, he was rather... lacking common sense.

No, but my friend's older brother is valedictorian and he's an *******...so I guess that counts.

Lack of common sense could be a trademark of creative genius. I know science is geared more towards mathematics, but I think you need a certain creative nature as well. But then, I don't know that much about science - I'm average when it comes to that subject.

It's interesting to know, though...I've had a big interest in genius and mental illness since reading "A Beautiful Mind."

I wish I was naturally smart but unfortunately I'm just book smart. I get really good grades but it's all because I study. I'm quite dumb though and lack a lot of common sense.

I guess my eldest brother could be considered one. He's extremely good at mathematics - can calculate odds within seconds and was evened banned from the blackjack tables in the Bahamas for card counting (years ago before they went to 8 decks in a shue).

He also lives rather an unusual lifestyle and won't let anyone over to his apt. (this has been for 33 years)! We figure he has stacks of old racing forms and other things laying around in there. Even the mice moved out! Probably looks like something you'd see on Cops!

My english teacher. Absolutely. He's insane and we do nothing in that class, but he's the smartest guy I've ever met.

My Senior English teacher was the most brilliant teacher I ever had. Instead of doing the standard BS stuff, he made it a point to teach us how to write, how to properly structure a sentence, how to edit our thoughts, so that when we went to college (and he actually told us this) we could make money by writing and/or editing papers and essays for our classmates.
And he was right!
While I was in college I helped my fraternity brothers write essays for thier classes. They always came to me with their term papers, and they asked me to edit them and to offer advice on how to structure them so they could be better.

I knew so much about writing that I was miles ahead of all my college friends, and I was teaching them more about writing then they ever learned in their High Schools!

Mr. Fili, you are a genius!
