OK...
There is MAJOR support from one of Boston's two major newspapers for the RENEWAL of American Dreams... and the writer gives TWO NEW e-mail addresses to the public to save the show. For a newspaper to publish e-mail addresses URGING fans to write a network is a significant development... and a hopeful one. More on this below. BUT First, The show... at this point... is NOT cancelled DESPITE doom and gloom postings on "Dreamin's" thread titled "It's Dead". as of 3/25/2005... "American Dreams" AIN'T DEAD!!!! I WORK in the TV Entertainment industry as an entertainment reporter... and I report on aspects of the entertainment part of the biz. No, I dont have the "inside scoop" on American dreams... because my "beat" is the film industry... but I have a good idea of how things work in general. No word from NBC pro or con has been issued about the fate of "AD".... despite the so-called "inside" information provided to Dreamin by what other poster say is a younger, relatively MINOR or sideline character who may be written out of a possible new season. The pessimistic attitude from this unnamed actor may be from the fact that HIS contract w/ the show has been cancelled for a possible future season. He/She may not be on the show next season to save COSTS... and provide a new season. Case in point... remember the lawyer show "The Practice"... from last year? David Kelley, the producer cut SEVERAL major and minor cast members to literally buy another FINAL season for the show. So until, NBC itself says the show is dead... IGNORE these so-called bits of inside info... unless they come from the show's producers themselves... or someone within NBC. NOT some minor actor who's probably getting a better gig on another show... which I believe is FX's new war program "Over There"... and has nothing to lose by bad mouthing a show he's leaving anyway for a better career move. He's NOT the star... or core actor on American Dreams. OK... enuf said on that. Today... Entertainment Weekly and todays Boston Herald newspaper wrote articles about TV shows that are... "on the bubble"... meaning their fate is as yet undecided... and could go either way depending on fan reaction and other factors. FACT: Major publications like "Entertainment Weekly" and The Boston Herald newspaper... do NOT WASTE precious space to rally support for shows they know are "dead". That article and print space, from a business standpoint would be better spent on something more solid... unless there TRULY was reason to hope for "AD" renewal at the time of publication. FACT: It's unusual for a publication to URGE fans to write NBC to save a show they feel is worthy of saving. So DON'T WASTE TIME. ACT on the information these articles are giving we fans... and write, write, and keep writing over these next few weeks until NBC says something solid. OK?????? WRITE!!!!!!!! ... DONT GIVE UP! Here is the Boston Herald article in it's entirety, written by staff TV critic Amy Fratangelo. The article ends with two NEW e-mail addresses for NBC. Those of you who have read my other posts know I've provided several OTHER e-mail address at NBC as well. The plan should be to write them ALL. That's not hard... just write one draft of an e-mail. ... and "CC" it to ALL the parties and/or e-mail adresses listed in this posting. All the addresses are re-capped at the end of this posting. Keep the faith! _________________ BOSTON HERALD NEWSPAPER article calling for support for "American Dreams" published 3/25/2005 Rescue me: Five shows in danger ``American Dreams,'' NBC's ``American Dreams'' deserves a reprieve and a fourth season because there is no other show like it on the air. Sure, the stunt casting (Paris Hilton as Barbara Eden!) is delicious. And who doesn't love seeing Third Eye Blind as the Kinks or Usher as Marvin Gaye. Practically every singer on the Top 40 and every ``American Idol'' winner has stopped by ``American Dreams'' to impersonate a musical counterpart from yesteryear. Set against the backdrop of ``American Bandstand'' and the tumultuous '60s, the show is a throwback to another television era - a time when there were quality one-hour dramas that could entertain the entire family. This season, the Pryor family deftly tackled everything from teen romance to corrupt local politics to civil unrest. The series may be loose with the decade's time line, blending the era's significant events conveniently into the family's lives, but TV needs a show that understands how important the results of a high school essay contest are to a daughter, and a son's struggle after returning home from the Vietnam War. This dream should live on.
