Post Last season of GG and FOL

For some reason, the last season of FOL reminds me of GG, because all the girls are grown up and it just seems that there are a lot of similarities. Who agrees?

They were both the worst seasons of their series.

I don't think so! For me, it seems harder to differentiate one season of Golden Girls from another than FOL, for some reason.

I like all the seasons of GG and FOL. the last seasons of both are one of my favorites. I agree about the golden girls, i cant tell each season apart very well. The only way i know im watching the last is by the episodes and Dorothys hair dues, thats how i can kinda tell which season im in. The first i know because of some of the episodes, i just know were in the first.

I definitely have to agree with Drew. The last season is one of my favorites of the GG. dorothy, rose, blanche, & sophia all seemed to keep getting funnier.

The main reasons you can't tell the difference between seasons is because the show was very consistent. They didn't move, or change/replace/drop characters, and they were all adults throughout the series. On The Facts of Life, the girls went through changes that made it obvious that they were getting older... plus there was that whole graduation thing, and Edna's Edibles, to losing Mrs. G for Beverly Ann... so, it's much easier to differentiate between FOL seasons.

As for The Golden Girls, there are some subtle ways to tell if the episode was towards the end or the beginning of the show's run... Hairstyles are usually a big tipoff...

Although trying to follow Blanche's hairystyle's was a bear to do. Her hair was constantly changing...

But Rose somehow managed to keep the same "helmet head" coiffure throughout the run of the series!!!

You could also tell what season the show was in by the decor of the Kitchen! it changed like every two years. But those god awful copper wall decos were hideous and I think they ALWAYS stayed put up til something like season 4 or five.

One way to tell is by the music when they change scenes on the Golden Girls. They revamped a few of the changing scene songs during the last two seasons on GG. And of course Bea's hair. The first 3 seasons it stayed the same. In the 4th she had that little puffy bob do. In the 5th she had REALLY long hair (when she looked her worst). The sixth she had a nice semi-short do (looked her best). The seventh, she had that puffy hairstyle. And of course....the color and picture got better every year on GG. One other way to tell is the laughs...During the early years...they hardly ever used track/stock laughs. During the 5th and especially the 6th and 7th seasons they used a lot of track/stock laughs. I guess to add some flavor to the already present studio audience.

It's almost impossible to track the show by Blanche's hair. She had so many different styles.

Betty's hair was almost the same from beginning to end.

Sofia changed wigs a few times. Every season I think.

The last season of GG was also one of my favorites...maybe that is because Lifetime seems to rarely show those episodes.

I think the last season seems like the best because of the acting. The writing had slipped a lot by then, but the girls seemed to REALLY warm up to each other (at least on camera) by this time.

I think when you go into the last season KNOWING it's the last season, you want to go a little crazy and do some new things. I think, in GG, that's why we saw Dorothy take on Blanche at the bar, Rose be mean to Sophia ("I said quiet!"), and expand on the risque' humor.

The same happened with TFOL. Natalie lost her virginity, Blair was in a car wreck, Jo got married, Tootie took on Jeff's grandmother... and it helped to conclude things.

That's my two cents...

The Golden Girls just kept getting better as the show went along. I wish I could say the same about the FOL, both my fav shows but FOL sucked during the last season. I thought it was cool cause on the pilot Blanche's room was on the left instead of going to the end of the hallway last door. Anybody else see that.
