Default Whitney Houston Back in Rehab

Pop Diva Whitney Houston Back in Rehab

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Pop diva Whitney Houston has checked back into a drug rehabilitation program, a year after first entering a program for substance abuse, her publicist said on Wednesday.

It was not immediately clear where Houston was seeking treatment or when the Grammy-winning singer and actress had first entered the facility.

"Whitney Houston has reentered a facility for rehabilitation," publicist Nancy Seltzer said in a brief statement.

Houston, 41, first checked into a drug rehab center in March 2004 after a string of canceled appearances and erratic behavior.

Last month she was rushed to a hospital in Paris after becoming ill from food poisoning on a flight bound for France. In January, she was cited by police after rear-ending a city bus with her sports car near her Atlanta-area home.

In a 2002 interview with ABC's Diane Sawyer, Houston admitted to using alcohol, marijuana, cocaine and prescription drugs, but said then a spiritual advisor had helped her stop taking drugs.

Her husband, Bobby Brown, has a history of run-ins with the law, including battery charges after a domestic dispute with Houston in December 2003 and a probation violation for drunken driving in February 2004.

Houston was just 21 when her first album became the biggest-selling debut ever by a female recording artist at that time.

In 1992, she starred in her first feature film "The Bodyguard," opposite Kevin Costner, and sang the theme song "I Will Always Love You," which went on to become the biggest-selling single in music history at that time.

Can they actually LOCK the door behind her this time?
Rehab doesn't work if it lasts a long weekend...

I think with her, they're going to HAVE to lock her in. As you say, takes a little longer than she's ever given it. And probably getting as far away from Bobby wouldn't hurt either!!

Her career was over years ago as far as I was concerned.

It's a shame too because she was a great talent. What a waste.

She's getting closer. At least she checked "herself" in without being forced!

Brown Says Houston Has Finished Rehab

(AP) Rapper Bobby Brown leaves the Norfolk County Probate and Family Court in Canton, Mass., in this...Full Image

NEW YORK (AP) - Bobby Brown says he believes that his wife, Whitney Houston, has successfully completed a second stint in rehab.

"I'm very confident," Brown told "Access Hollywood" in an interview Tuesday night. "She's my lady and she's doing wonderful. Everything about her spirit right now is just great ... we're enjoying life again."

In March, Houston checked herself into a rehabilitation center for the second time in a year. Houston, who had said she was using the power of prayer to get over drugs, married Brown in 1992.

Brown, who has a history of drug and alcohol arrests, told "Access Hollywood" that it's been difficult for both of them.

"It's a team effort whenever somebody is ill," he said. "It takes two to make things work, so I have to be there for her just like she was there for me when I went through my rehab stint."

The 41-year-old Houston has been working on a comeback album.

"She's going to start recording," Brown said. "Hopefully, I will get to work with her on this album." Brown, 36, is the subject of a new eight-episode reality TV show, "Being Bobby Brown," set to debut June 30 on Bravo. The show will also feature Houston.

Meanwhile, didn't he just get picked up again for something? Like he's the person to believe that she's over her drug and alcohol problem?? Pot calling the kettle black here! And even if she has successfully completed, can she stay that way if he's not rehabilitated? She needs to stay away from him as long as she possibly can! I think her career's long since over now anyway. Too much damage has been done. What a waste!
