Thumbs down The Huxtables were so stingy

Cliff and Clair were so stingy!!! They made loads of money but they never got the kids what they want.My mama and daddy dont have a lot,but they still get me what I need and want.

Well some of the things that they wouldnt give their kids I could understand, like a $90(?) shirt or flying lessons, but there were other times when I felt like they could have helped a bit more then they did. Like when Denise wanted a car, they could have matched her money and allowed her to get a decent car, etc...

Rich people are usually as tight as a fish's eyelid. They dont hand out to their kids because they want them to work for things, like they had to.They also dont want to part with their money.
My parents were nowhere near rich and when they could, they bought my brothers and I what we wanted.Anything my Mum had went to us,while I had a rich friend whose parents never gave him anything,if he wanted something he had to work for it.
My cousin has rich parents and he wanted to borrow money off my aunty and uncle to buy a car,and then pay it back, but they said he'd have to save for it and buy it himself, they weren't giving him a dime, and on Easter they buy their kids chocolate from the 99 cent stores!

IMO I think they were teaching their Kids responsibility. Cliff and Clair would go broke if they gave in every time their asked for money or something.
Remember what Cliff told Vanessa, " Your'e not rich, your mother and I are rich

I loved the way Cliff and Clair were always trying to teach their kids stuff. Remember when Theo had everything in his room taken out, even the electricity? They were trying--in a way over the top method--to prepare him for realife where nobody hands you anything for free.

Exactly. Those children has it real good. I wish I had it as good as the Huxtables did. I loved the eps that tried to push the kids to responsibilty.

One of my faves is the ep when Rudy has to work around the house doing chores in order to get money to buy a special present for her mother. Growing up, I did not get allowance and had only one parent taking care of me while trying to hold down 2 jobs. Everything I have for myself now was not given to me by my parents, I had to do it on my own. I wish I had come from a family with money, but hey, I still made it.
