Instead of repeating the same stuff all the time. Why don't we all start a petition for the production of UM again. Maybe someone at lifetime will listen if we get enough signatures.

To be honest, I wouldn't sign. No host would be as great as Robert Stack, and you know Lifetime would change the theme song and graphics AGAIN. Plus they'd probably do more boring stories about cloning and bee stings.
It would be like remaking the BBC classic "The Office". Oh wait....... |

Well of course that is your opinion but if there are good mysteries out there why not produce it again. So we have a new host, doesnt mean he or she cant do a great job. It will also give us more hope with the older mysteries

Although I don't agree not broadcasting the old shows as some of them are updated and the ones without resolutions 1) can still likely be resolved in time - I mean it took the Mia Zapata case 10 years and especially in the case of missing children like Nyleen Kaye Marshall it is crucial that these segments still air as if these children are still alive it may be their only hope to gaining knowledge about their past 2) they are just great pieces of documentary/true crime television - actually in my opinion some of the best television I've ever seen period.
I do think it's time for new episodes if they are done right - I probably wouldn't strongly object to more UM under the Lifetime banner because of the good the show will do helping families find lost loves and solve crimes so hey if they want to start production again then bring it on. I do think that Cosgrove and company are honoring the memory of Robert Stack though for at least the time being by having a grace period - before if/when new episodes with a new host start. Sadly I also think that since the Dvds bombed that those might have been a taster to see if there was still interest in the series. Since the dvds didn't sell well we might not get not only no more dvds but likely no new episodes of UM (Lifetime or no lifetime) (Btw: I do think JJH will be updated - I think if a case gets enough press it's updated and to my knowledge JJH has already gotten more press then Mia Zapata's murder which was updated today with the correspondants voice) |

If the DVDs were released as part of a trial run to determine whether there's enough interest in the show to warrant bringing the show back, then somebody dropped the ball. That somebody should have done a better job at promoting the DVD sets. As I have indicated in other posts, I would blame the poor sales on the limited advertising. I have heard that ads for them were shown on Lifetime. But one channel isn't enough. They should have aired ads for those DVDs more vigorously, on no fewer than 20 channels. They could have shown the TV ads every five minutes, if need be. But it is essential to promote products with vigor. |

The Mia Zapata case was solved several years ago. The killer was convicted about this time last year, I think.
I saw the update last year, too. |
