Most people find the first movie very confusing and most find the second loaded up with to much slow motion action. My favorite is the first, but the 2nd is good too.

I much perfer the first Mission Impossible. I don't think that it is one of Brian De Palma's better films, and it is far below the quality of some of his other attempts at big budget blockbusters (Scarface, Carlito's Way), but I still think the movie has a number of memorable moments like when Tom Cruise breaks into the secured room at Langley. The second film was simply silly I thought. However, this may be in part because I am not much of a fan of the films of John Woo.

I like the first one better. It had a great story and some great suspense.
The second one had too many damn doves. Why the Heck does John Woo do that in all his movies?

Did you see "Paycheck?" It's a straight up pseudo futuristic action flick, but the damn doves show up in the middle of the climactic ending! Ben Affleck is duking it out with the bad guys in this high tech office building, but wait! Here come the doves! It's getting pretty silly now. Doves don't need to fly into every scene. Serously, it is ripe for parody now...
