Default Anyone else think TV Land is going downhill?

All I can say is, thank God for DVDs!

I think that TV Land is getting really bad. Not just because they're putting on a lot of shows that I don't like, but now THEY'RE getting into the "reality" game with this ridiculous "Chasing Farrah" show. btw, Farrah looks a little coked-out in the preview I've seen of the show...she looks terrible. Yes, she was a beautiful woman once, but that was 30 years ago...

The TV Land award shows are totally pathetic. And these categories? I mean, was there any doubt that Roseanne would get the zinger award she got, since William Frawley is dead and the girl who played Dee on "What's Happening" (both superior comic performers to Rosanne) weren't AT the awards show? (That's the only part I saw, I didn't even know it was on, I was checking to see what was on TV land at the time, and they announced the nominees for the "award"). Point being, n order to receive an award, you have to (A) be alive AND (B) show up to the award show.

TV Land used to have a lot of my old favorites like "Gomer Pyle" "Petticoat Junction" "Family Affair" and "My Three Sons" (not to mentin "Get Smart" and the "Mary Tyler Moore Show").

And the weekends...they used to run good shows on Saturday morning, now all they do is run these Entertainment Tonight repeats, 60 Minutes "Legends" interviews, and specials about TV Land "Moguls"...who cares, I just wanna watch Dick Van Dyke!

This afternoon, they're running "Gunsmoke" marathon... even though I'm not a Gunsmoke fan, at least it's an older show that was popular for a long time... But all they show during the afternoons on Sat and Sunday are Westerns...

That's why I say, thank God for DVDs...now at least we can buy a lot of our favorite old shows and watch em whenever we want...who needs TV land?

Plus, I'm doing a lot more reading these days...so TV Land's going downhill isn't a totally bad thing i guess!

TV Land does suck. I don't wacth anything on there now. I have the first 5 seasons of Sanford and Son on DVd and there is no need for me to watch their edited programs. The TVLand Awards are crap because it is scripted. The categories are stupid and they know who they want to win. I thought that was horrible to have William Frawley and Dee in the same category as Roseanne. They nominate these people knowing they are not there to accept the award. What if William Frawley did win the award? Who was going to accept it?

TV LAND is A$$-LOL The Awards was HOrrible, the Saturday and Sunday 2pm-8pm schedule STINKS with those dumb Westerns. They hold on to the same damm shows for years like Happy Days, and Sanford and Son. Why continue airing Sanford and Son when all but one season is on DVD? I don't watch anything on TV LAND anymore.

The "new" TV Land is coming this summer. So hold on, I think most of you will be very happy. Starting this June with two huge marathon weekends that will not just be one show. Then two new shows launch in July and August and one in November.

I hope so. I'm willing to give TV Land another chance for all the good times it gave me. My main complain now (Yes I'm human, I complain alot) are all the special graphics they use in the corner of the screen. It's like just let the show's air without additional special effects. But I won't complain much if the schedule is good. I want to love TV Land again.

And like Tweety said "Thank God for DVDs". I don't know what I would have done, if a lot of my favorites hadn't been released.

Great.

TV Land is at an all time low in my opinion, atleast since I've been watching. I don't even turn it on anymore and it used to be on my TV almost all day.

It's not good right now, but I not worried because it is going to get good.

I guess it does sometimes run in cycles..

But it is definitely at an all time low now...

pavanbadal, i'm a little confused with your comment... will TV land be putting some of the old classics back on, or are they going to bring in more recent stuff? Or will there be another TV Land network springing up?

You've got me wondering!

My wife and I "discovered" TV Land in about 1997 or so when we were on vacation in the Carolinas (We live in Florida). It was great seeing My Three Sons, Family Affair, and a bunch of other old shows that we grew up watching, and we loved... Hopefully, they'll be back

I totally agree - both TVLand and N@N are terrible right now! I used to look forward to Friday nights I would actually nap so I could stay up super late watching my favorites!
I don't know why they've been "coasting" for so long. I really look forward to new changes. I barely watch them anymore.

Chasing Farrah sounds like its just their version of VH1's Anna Nicole! A total train wreck. I'll probably tune in but more out of sheer curiosity (like craning to checkout a car accident)!!

Lets keep our fingers crossed and keep posting messages on their boards - maybe they'll finally get the message!

That's a good point. I used to love when USA showed short lived shows in the mornings. That's when I became the big "Wings" fan I am now. That was the only long running show they aired back then. Others included; Jesse, Working, Ned & Stacey, Hearts Afire, The John Larroquette Show and a few others.

A&E used to air Night Court and NewsRadio.

TBS is another channel that used to be great but now is unwatchable for me.

The Family Channel, which is now ABC Family, which hardly even shows family programming.

This is not a good time to be a cable channel.
