Default New Charmed Soundtrack-April 19 2005

“CHARMED: THE BOOK OF SHADOWS” SOUNDTRACK
FROM TREADSTONE RECORDS - APRIL 19, 2005

"Charmed: The Book of Shadows" CD reflects Strong, Independent Female Leads of the WB’s Long-Running Television Show, including tracks from Sarah McLachlan, Vanessa Carlton, Dido, Liz Phair, The Donnas and more.
“When we selected the songs for the new ‘Charmed’ soundtrack we were adamant that each one reflect the core message of the show: the power of three strong, independent women,” says Jonathan Platt, President of Treadstone Records, which will release Charmed: The Book of Shadows: Soundtrack on April 19, 2005.

Comprised exclusively of work by female artists, Charmed: The Book of Shadows: Soundtrack includes the song “Take It Off,” from the Donnas, “Take a Look,” from Liz Phair, Vanessa Carlton’s “San Francisco” – the setting for “Charmed” – Dido’s “Sand in My Shoes,” “Unbroken,” courtesy of Australia’s Missy Higgins, “I Close My Eyes,” from Shivaree, and “Home,” from Zero 7. Rounding out the set are cutting-edge remixes previously heard only in clubs, among them a retooling of Sarah McLachlan’s “Fallen” by Dan the Automator, Butterfly Boucher’s “I Can’t Make Me” by Chris Lord-Alge, Ashlee Simpson’s “Pieces of Me” by David Garcia and High Spies, and Sarah Brightman’s “Free” by the Swiss American Federation.

Platt continues: “The idea for the all-female soundtrack came out of a conversation my partner, Jonathan Miller, and I had with Celest Ray [Vice President, Paramount Music] and Ken Miller [Senior Vice President, Spelling Television]. We wanted to do something different with this record, to set it apart from the first ‘Charmed’ soundtrack [2003], which featured bands like Smash Mouth and Third Eye Blind.”*

Says Jonathan Miller: “In addition to wanting this album to be a showcase for female performers, our goal was to present a range of sounds, including the music of some alternative-leaning talent like Butterfly Boucher – who, for me, was an amazing find – Zero 7 and Shivaree. Even with some of the more mainstream acts, we wanted to present versions of their songs that most people will not have heard before.”*

“We’re delighted to be involved in this truly unique project. We think it will really stand out in the marketplace,” says George Steele, Vice President of Audio Operations for Image Entertainment, Inc., which will distribute Charmed: The Book of Shadows: Soundtrack. “And we’re very pleased to join Treadstone in a second collaboration with Spelling Television. We’ve had fantastic marketing support from Spelling on the ‘Summerland’ soundtrack, and we expect to reap similar synergies with the new ‘Charmed’ album.”*
“The ‘Charmed’ soundtrack is kind of like a modern-day Lilith Fair,” concludes Platt. “It’s a really engaging display of girl power, which is one of the ideals that has earned ‘Charmed’ so many devoted fans, both male and female.”*

I don't really think they need to release another one, I didn't even buy the first one. However, the tracklisting seems better.
