Red face Save Amtrak!

I hope this doesn't sound political, but. . . . Amtrak, the national passenger railroad, could lose its government subsidy and be bankrupt by September. This isn't a Democratic issue or a Republican issue - it's an American issue. We need passenger rail service in America. Not everyone can or will drive or fly.

LET'S SAVE OUR TRAINS!!!

I don't care what you do about it, just do something!

Thank you.

Write your congressman, protest, write a letter to the editor of your local paper, make more people aware. . . and most important, use Amtrak when you can to show folks that the people want it!

This isn't really a political issue, but one that does affect all of us. They've been talking about shutting down Amtrak for the past few years and I would NOT like to see that happen. Trains are fun to ride, fast and economical.

I'm not happy about this! I have taken the amtrak train down to Chicago several times and it is VERY convenient. The Chicago traffic is just horrible I've never taken a car there in my life and if I took a plain, that's TOO quick (I live in Milwaukee). I definitely don't want them to go out of business!

Indeed! We need high-speed trains along urban corridors (Chicago-Milwaukee, San Francsico-Los Angeles, et al.) like the Japanese and French bullet trains. We do have the 150-mph Acela on the Boston-Washington corridor, but a French bullet train can go more than twice that fast!!

Also, bullet trains could cut the gridlock in the skies. A bullet train could make an 800-mile trip in The majority of airline flights acutally don't go much farther than that.
