Good news for The West Wing, ER, Joey, Crossing Jordan, and Las Vegas fans....you've been renewed! ER gets three more years.

Yet, this article I found on thefutoncritic failed to mention anything about AD....

But maybe it's not so bad, right? I mean they still haven't said anything about Will & Grace and Scrubs...and I know this isn't their final list....

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) NBC's final schedule for the 2005-06 season won't be announced until May, but the network got a head-start on Thursday (March 17), renewing "Crossing Jordan," "Las Vegas" and the freshman comedy "Joey" for another year. In addition, NBC confirmed the rumored renewal of "West Wing" and the two-year extension for "ER," which will keep the medical drama on the air through at least the 2007-08 season.
"The continuing quality and popularity of these series make them the mainstays of our year-to-year schedules," says NBC Entertainment President Kevin Reilly. "Coupled with our innovative current development plans, we feel we have the right mix of returning and fresh, new breakout hits for a promising 2005-06 schedule."

Facing the tough challenge of following in the footsteps of "Friends," "Joey" has struggled at times this season, averaging 11.1 million viewers. Still, NBC can boast that it's the season's top new comedy among adults 18-49 and in total viewers. Of the NBC renewals, "Joey" was probably the one whose future was in the most doubt.

Even after weathering a tough fall opposite "Monday Night Football," "Las Vegas" has averaged 11.7 million viewers per week in its second season. Those numbers are almost identical to the figures the show delivered last year.
Although NBC's Sunday performance has been spotty this season due to weaknesses between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., "Crossing Jordan" has provided a strong anchor, averaging 12.1 million viewers despite strong competition from ABC's "Boston Legal."

Two of the most decorated dramas in the history of the medium, "The West Wing" and "ER" are averaging 11.4 and 16.5 million viewers respectively.

Thursday's announcement brings a good deal of clarity to NBC's schedule with two months to go before its official upfront presentation. In addition to today's renewals, a number of shows -- including "Scrubs," "Will & Grace," freshman drama "Medium" and the first three "Law & Order" offerings -- had already been picked up for next season. "American Dreams" and "Committed" appear to be dead in the water and the fate of Friday dramas "Third Watch" and "Medical Investigation" is decidedly cloudy and probably won't be determined until after NBC executives have had the opportunity to look over the network's pilot haul.

It says American Dreams and Committed are dead in the water, this sounds like bad news, right?

Just FWIW... Scrubs was renewed for 2 seasons last year, so it's back next year.

Will and Grace will be back too, almost certain.

Committed may be back if NBC is not pleased with its crop of comedy pilots. American Dreams, however, needs a miracle to return, sadly.

Sitcoms are about dead. As much as I hate to say it... I forsee continued cutbacks in the number of comedies the networks air next year. They just aren't as good as they use to be.

I agree with you there...sitcoms are dead. There are few good sitcoms left on television.

But this "dead in the water" thing doesn't sound good for AD.

According to TFC, NBC has twelve comedy pilots set to be shot and as many as seven more in the works, for a total of nineteen. NBC seems committed (no pun intended) on getting back in the comedy game.

Well... for me, hope springs eternal for American dreams renewal... but then again, after reading on the web about NBC Kevin reilly's new pet show project for the fall... I really wonder what those folks in Hollywood are thinking about their idea of "quality family entertainment".

Seems NBC Entertainment exc Kevin Reilly is quote "really excited" about a new show he's pushing... that's already been cast... and probably shot...

Not a guy named Jesus.... a show featuring THE original, one and only, right out of the Bible, JESUS.

Yes, you read right... the show's about Jesus ... who takes a personal interest in mentoring and counseling a drug addicted priest played by actor Aidan Quinn.

By "Hip"... I wouldn't be surprised if NBC has Jesus wearing Armani and Versace suits... while he spends time "counseling" this one priest.

Believe it or not... this Reilly guy at NBC says he believes this is "family entertainment" that everyone will enjoy.
If this show is picked up.... and American Dreams cancelled... TV truly does suck in the worst way.

Oh and family dramas are dead too. The new things are going to be crime dramas like CSI(although if CBS adds another one, viewers will leave because they will overkill it like they did with Millionaire on ABC back in 2000-2001), and clones of Desperate Housewives. I think new reality being hits is over too, although I forsee Survivor and American Idol around for awhile.

I don't know...as much as I hate to say it, I don't think reality TV is quite dead YET.

And newsie007- is the show you are talking about called "The Book of Daniel?"

Pretty dumb idea for a show I think...
If NBC thinks a show like that will appeal to religious people, theyre wrong.
If NBC thinks it will appeal to those who aren't religious, theyre wrong... because they wont want to watch anything that's "faith based" anyway.

I'm no conservative... but i agree hollywood is WAY out of touch with the public on what's "family viewing".
