What exactly is so funny about Joey's "cut it out" phrase with the finger gestures? I don't get it.

I agree. I think that it wasn't supposed to be laugh-out-loud funny, just kind of his trademark.

Yeah I know, it was so funny because all the characters would laugh every single time he did it, as if it were a new joke each time!

The "cut it out" bit came from a TV show he did before "Full House" called "Out of Control".

Dave penned that phrase long before Full Huse ever aired. That was a phrase he used quite often when doing stand-up comedy starting out in the 70's, according to an interview in People mag. in 1999.
