Lightbulb What Unsolved Mysteries DVD sets are missing from the series?

I feel that there should be one about vanishings. They could involve cases like the one about Elaine and Adam Emery, the dissapearance of that girl that was talking to her b/f at a phone booth before she was being kidnapped, the one about that elderly couple who apparently died in a fire but seemed to reappear and die in another fire, and about the older gentlemen who could of possibly been involved in a heist where platinum was stolen from the factory he worked in. I feel that there should be another volume added to the Bizarre Murders and Strange Legends.

I agree with you 110 percent in regards to a vanishings set. Though the emery case is only a partial vashing case now as Elaine's bones were found in the river not too long after the original broadcast. This set could also include the dissappearnce of that Texes business man who file for bankruptcy in 1984 and set his car on fire to fake his death in 1988 as to elude authorites and supposed mobsters who put a hit on him(I forget this guy's name), Randolph Dial and Bobbie Parker, Amy Billig, Sneha Philip, Angela Hammond(the girl kidnapped from the payphone during the call), and a few others that I can't think of at the moment

And the bizzare murdres case could have another volume as well, including the deaths of Ted Losef, Rebecca Young, David Hurley, Matt Flores, the woman kidnapped from the gas station who was later killed, the Canadian highway reststop killer.

I also though a Most Wanted Fugitives set would be great. This could have cases like the East Area rapist who tied husbands to their beds and raped the wives in another room, the "grandpa bandit" and "milk carton bandit", Arturo Lopez Jr., Carlos Berdeja, the people who set the MO fire that killed six firemen, the stalkers of the for beruit prisoner, the person/s who put the bomb in the Navy captain's van the went off when his wife drove it.

I feel the Psychics episode lacks two mandatory segments. The one of Tina Roech, the columbus girl who had things move around on their own in her house back in '84 when she was 14, and the spontanious human combustion stories.

There needs to be a set about Lost Loves. I think it would be a huge seller.

I'd really like a WANTED set.

I don't know how good sales have been, but I'm sure they haven't been spectacular. I mean, the show is on twice a day, so while WE demand it, the rest of the world might not, since it's still being shown on TV.

I mention sales because no matter how many of us want new sets, the first thing they will look at is how the other sets have sold. If they didn't sell well, you can bet they won't release any more.

Anyone have any info about the UM DVD sales?

I can tell they aren't selling good... they are at Wal-Mart here(UFO's and Ghosts) and are deeply discounted. They are on a hard-to-find shelf in a hard-to-see spot as well.

Theres gotta be a better way to market and sell these dvds. This series was a VERY popular show back in its heyday. I hope the producers dont give up on future releases.

i think it just got weak promotion, the only tv commercials were ran on lifetime for a small period of time

That's what I suspect. If such commercials are shown exclusively on one channel, then that's not sufficient promotion, and the chances of garnering satisfactory sales are slim to none.

The UM DVDs would probably have sold better if they had been advertised more vigorously (and that includes, but is not limited to, showing the TV commercials on numerous channels). It doesn't guarantee excellent sales all the time, but vigorous promotions are a key factor in boosting the chances of good sales.

showing commercials on A&E at night, and at any time on Court TV would probably boost the sales significantly since thats the right audience to target

oh well

Something that may have increased the sales of the DVD would be to offer more special features. The last 3 sets did not offer anything except commentary in the way of special features.

A Missing Persons DVD Set should be made! This topic was on the show quite often. Why should a Miracles or Psychics DVD Set be made but not a Missing Persons?

These sets are only going to be bought by hardcore fans. I bet netflix gets a lot of rentals of them. I'm a huge fan, but I'm not interested in the UFO or Ghosts sets. I can't imagine the cost of actually producing these sets. Getting 5.1 mixes of the segments, recording audio commentaries, designing menus and the Robert Stack tributes as well as the editing involved is expensive. If they have sets availalble of Greatest American Hero and Ba Ba Black Sheep, then Unsolved Mysteries is absolutely a must. If the other sets would have sold poorly, I doubt they'd have done psychics and mysterious legends sets.

Here's the problem..

They screwed up when they made the boxsets. They tried to save a few bucks by releasing a sorta "Very Best" collection based on themes but what they should've done is release the series by season. It's my own opinion that sales would've been much greater if they've done this just for the simple fact that people would get a change to own the older much more sought after segments as opposed to the newer ones. If they would've went this route I would've bought every season.
