Default Editing?

Anybody else notice that in the episode "Jung Frankenstein" where Doug goes to a therapist to help curb his eating problems that they edited out the last scene in syndication where Arthur goes into the drug store and sees a kid going to get Afrin and knocks it out of his hands? This scene was pretty funny and I was wondering why it was edited out? This so far has been the only episode that I noticed has been edited in syndication.

Thanks

I'm not exactly sure, but perhaps that episode was a bit longer, and they edited it out for more commercial time. That seems to be the most logical thing, but who knows.

Please tell me you're kidding. They edit pretty much all of them. Meaning, they take about a minute of program out so they can run more ads during the syndication run. Pretty common practice for all shows in their second runs.

In fact, with me having so much time on my hands, I sometimes watch a syndicated KOQ and if I have the DVD, I stick it in my computer and watch them in sync and wait to see what part has been edited out. When the screens no longer match, I know where the edit is. If you've got a dvd player or dvd-r on your computer, you should try that sometime.

In fact, in the set for season three they just put out, remember the ep. where Carrie wants to cut off sex with Doug and work on the relationship with better communication? It's the one where Arthur tries to sleep with the "diseased and incredibly boring" woman who's been with Sinatra, so it'll be like HE'S been with Sinatra.....Anyway, that ep. starts out with Arthur on the phone talking with her. He then tells Carrie he's having her over to the house for dinner so they can eat for free. That's on the DVD, but in syndication, it starts off right where Carrie screams..."oh my God, A ROACH! A ROACH!" that went under the refrigerator. They actually cut out just over a minute of the episode right at the start! Just one of many examples of how they do that. Go back and watch it, and then prepare to be stunned when they show the syndicated version. It's really criminal when you think about it.

Yeah I do something similar. I've watched the 1st and 2nd seasons so many times I practically memorized most of the lines. Sometimes they'll edit out really funny or memorable parts and then you realize "what just happend here?" That's the thing about syndication though.

Default CUT

Every episode has something cut from it. Kevin tells you that on the pilot commentary, on the season 1 disc.
