Default How to write to Lifetime about Unsolved Mysteries

I was so mad yesterday that Lifetime switched back to showing the same new episodes again. They just showed these episodes in January. I don't know why they would switch back after only showing the old episodes for 3 weeks.

Well I went to the Lifetime website and found this form:
http://www.lifetimetv.com/about/write.html

On the form it asks you:
Choose the topic most closely related to your question: Scroll down and highlight the Unsolved Mysteries TV Show.

At the bottom of the form it has a section for comments.

I wrote that everyone at this message board (I then typed in this address as a reference: http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards)

I stated that we want to see the Unsolved Mysteries episodes from 1987-1994. I also stated that Lifetime continues to show the same newer episodes from 2002 and these have been repeated too many times. I requested that they please show episodes from 1987-1994.

I encourage everyone to go to the address I listed above and write a similar letter in the comments section. Also make sure you scroll down and insert Unsolved Mysteries in the TV Show section.

Maybe they will listen if enough of us do this.

Take Care

I sent them a big, long message.

Basically what I said was even though UM isn't Lifetime's flagship show, it's audience is a small, core, "cult like" following. What would be so wrong with giving us what we want?

I agree, I think all of us should email them. I just finished. This is only the second day of them airing the new crap, maybe if they get a lot of emails at once requesting the older ones they'll relent and show them again.

It does suck... and what is even worse is the Lifetime produced episodes include SOLVED cases from YEARS AND YEARS before!!! Why do that? It's UNSOLVED Mysteries.

BTW: The newer episodes are on the schedule at 12 and 1pm this week... and then all but 1pm on Monday(and on March 28th) and Wednesday next week and then on Friday April 1st and Monday the 4th it's 2 old episodes

Confused? http://www.lifetimetv.com/cgi/script...?show=unsolved

Just how big and long was this message? I only ask because when you write to a network, your message should be concise (in other words, short and to the point). If it's too long and wordy, chances are it won't get read.

I'm not trying to be critical; I'm just stating a fact. As a rule of thumb, concise messages have a greater chance at being read than long-winded ones.

Forget emails. Write to the network, via snail mail. I can't stress enough times that physical letters carry more weight than emails. Sure, emails are quicker, but they can be easily deleted, read or unread.

Also, physical letters have some advantages that emails do not: they're more personal, they're generally more authentic, and they prove that you took the time to actually write to them.

Good point. They should evenly space out the re-airing of the time periods in which the reruns are shown and not jam all the new ones together once and do it again a short time later. Not that I have anything against the newer stuff becuase I don't(I saw the Jodie Bordeaux story today for the first time), it's just that some older stuff that I have not seen in over a decade(or have only seen once and would like to see again, at least for nostalgic purposes if nothing else) are not coming up. If I had to select a period of reruns it would UM's 87-97 era, or at least the 87-95 period. But like I said I have nothing against all the new stories as I rank an episode by its content/subject matter, not its age.

Now if the show had some more DVD sets out with our favorite stuff on them we would not have to request the reruns of older episodes. Maybe this is worth petitioning as well...

First I want to comment on MetalHybrid. I agree that for nostalgic purposes alone I would like to see the era of episodes from 87-97. Plus I feel that time period had much creepier episodes. I also agree that if the current DVD sets that are out now had more of the older segments on them, we would not have to request the reruns of older episodes.

That's why after thinking about it, I wish Unsolved Mysteries would have been released in season sets. Then we would have all the old episodes. It seemed that the DVD sets focused too much on the more current shows.

I also agree with Kane. We should write actual letters through snail mail as well. I think we should do the e-mail and the snail mail. That way it's a double punch.

Lifetime's mailing address is:

Lifetime Television
ATTN: Unsolved Mysteries
309 West 49th Street
New York, NY 10019

Simply request that Lifetime air the older episodes of Unsolved Mysteries from the 1987-1997 time period, since those seasons are often not aired on Lifetime.

Hopefully this can help

Hi! I'm new to the board and was just as mad as all of you were that Lifetime switched back to showing the newer episodes. I had been recording on my TIVO all the older shows so I could watch them again at my leisure.

I thought Lifetime had finally learned its lesson and decided to run through the earlier seasons. I guess I was wrong. I have already emailed them and think I will also use snail mail to get my point across.

i wrote to them in january regarding showing the old episodes, I didn't expect them to actually read my letter but I figured I'd give it a shot.

then in february they magically started showing season 1

i guess they stopped recently and went back to the new ones

I proposed the idea of showing the entire series in ORDER, starting with the first season--including the rare episodes, such as the Tara Calico case (I didn't go into THAT much detail, but you get the idea).

What purpose does it serve to continue to show the same segments?

Looks like old episodes(at least the 1996 era, before CBS/Lifetime) are back full time April 1st... we can only see 6 timeslots beyond that though.

Actually that guide doesnt indicate anything in regards to April 1st. Sometimes that just dont list which episodes are being shown on the Lifetime website. I suggest everyone continue to write or e-mail Lifetime until we actually see the older episodes back on Lifetime.

Default The problem with the DVD's

I think the creators of UM were right not to release DVD's in series form...after all, that would have left us with alot of stuff we didnt want....the problem with their "genre specific" approach is that they needed to release far more than the 6 sets we've seen to satisfy hardcore fans...

Fraud, Missing Persons and even Lost Loves have all been suggested, and as we all know, there is atleast one further Murders set they could release..

Perhaps if the sets had sold better, these other titles would have seen the light of day, but i gather from you guys that they havent exactly been flying off the shelves....

you have to doubt whether they'll ever be any more Unsolved sets, which would be a great shame
