Default Car Mechanics

I took my car to the shop last week for a oil change & to have my starter replaced. When i got the car back, my driver seat was adjusted & my cd player was messed with by the mechanics. I hate that s**t. When i take my car to the shop, i don't expect my cd player & my driver seat to be messed with. I had the sound the way i wanted it for my cd player & when they messed with it, my speakers sounded distorted. Mechanics need to leave people's cars alone when they're fixing on them as far as touching the customers cd player/stereo system & adjusting the driver seat. Adjusting the driver seat isn't that big of a deal but they could at least adjust the driver seat back to the way the customer had it. I went to a tire place today to try & buy a used tire. The guy told me it was $37 for a used tire. I was like what? When i went there before, he charged like $15-$20 for a used tire.

Well, they need to adjust the seats so they can sit comfortably when they drive the car. As for changing the sound on your cd player, that is pretty dumb. I don't think they should be messing with that.

That seems pretty reasonable for a used tire. The cheap new ones run about $70 each.

I own my own auto repair shop and my techs are told not to mess with the radio stations. As far as adjusting the seat back, I'd say you're being a little picky.

I found a place that sells used tires for $20.00 and new tires for $60.00. That seems about right.

The only thing I hate about oil changes is that the mechanics will always find something wrong. I know it is their job, but damn! I went for an oil change in December, and the mechanic told me I could use a new water pump. He showed me when the car was on a lift that it was leaking anti-freeze... a little. Anyway, I went back a few weeks later to get a new water pump and he gave me a $50 discount, only because I am a regular customer. BTW, it's this one place near me that will sell used tires for $25.

radio i totally agree w/ you on... as for the seat, if it'll keep him from wrecking it and making me pay, he can adjust all he wants

lol...I have electric seats, and I'm really anal about the seat not being in the exact place I have it. So if I get it back and it's moved like a millimeter, I get all pissy. It wasn't such a big deal when I had manual seats.

Never had my radio messed with.

Once I got in it, and the air conditioning was on max and blowing as hard as possible. That made me mad too. Hey, I don't like that and whose gas is that wasting...MINE.

^^^My mechanics too! Except they totally make things up. Last time, I was told (actually, they told my dad) that I too needed a water pump. The car is not leaking water nor antifreeze, and it doesn't run hot. Yeah, they must have an overabundance of WPs and need to unload them. They do it to my dad's Blazer too. And they're always sending things telling me stuff that needs to be done. Ahem, my dad used to be a mechanic. I think he knows a thing or two about a car.

Yet when it's warranty work...NOTHING IS WRONG. Cuz they don't get paid (or they don't get paid as much) for warranty work.

My mums boyfriend is a motor mechanic and he said that mechanics are known to deliberately f*ck something else up in your car,so you have to come back.It makes sense. If they fix it right the first time, and do it well, you wont have to come back for awhile, and they dont want that,do they? Dont get me wrong,I'm not saying all mechanics are like that, but there'd be a few.

Don't ever take your car to Goodyear, Midas, Speedy cause they're very expensive. I always go to a small auto body shop when i get my car fixed.

Yeah, I always tell people don't mess with the franchises because they will charge you just to look at whatever is wrong. You have to pay for the name.

My car always goes back to the dealership. Though I did get the brakes done at a franchise for a hell of a lot cheaper.
