Default I Can't Get Enough Of These Albums

These albums i listen to constantly in my car cd player. These albums are also good for playing in the summertime at a cookout. I can't get enough of these old r&b artists. It's a shame the new generation of blacks don't know nothin about these artists cause they're missing out on good music. R&B music today is so garbage but don't tell these new kids that LOL. They think Ciara, Usher, Destiny's Child, Mario, Omarion, Ashanti are great r&b singers hahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

1. Cameo-Feel Me, Alligator Woman, Secret Omen, She's Strange, Word Up, Style
2. Dazz Band-Keep It Live, Joystick, Jukebox, The Hot Spot
3. Kool & The Gang-Something Special
4. The Gap Band-Gap Band III, Gap Band IV, Gap Band V, Gap Band VI
5. Con Funk Shun-To The Max, Fever
6. Raydio-Two Places At The Same Time
7. Jermaine Jackson-Jermaine Jackson(this came out in 1984)
8. Zapp-Zapp II, Zapp III
9. The Deele-Street Beat
10. Midnight Star-No Parking On The Dance Floor, Planetary Invasion
11. Rick James-Cold Blooded
12. Ready For The World-Ready For The World(this is their first album)
13. The Isley Brothers-Go For Your Guns, Go All The Way, Showdown, Between The Sheets, Harvest For The World
14. The Jacksons-Destiny, Triumph, Victory

As a 25-year-old, I would agree with that. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that artists of today are making money, going platinum and crossing over - more than ever. It's a damn shame that R&B artists didn't even chart on the Hot 100 from the mid-80's to the early 90's.

there was a lot of r&b that crossed over in the late 80's and definately early 90's, it's just not like today when POP artists can't even hit #1 on the POP chart. I loved the way it was in the 80's, it was more diverse and everyone had a fair chance at #1, there hasn't been a non-American Idol oriented #1 POP single since Nickelback nearly 4 years ago. The R&B that crossed over 15+ years ago was so much better than the crap that we're resorting to today as well. It's sad that Usher can crap out a #1 single, yet someone like Angie Stone or Jill Scott cannot even make the top 50, and those two have so much more than than Flusher can even dream of having. Usher has a couple decent songs, but he doesn't deserve this Michael Jackson/Elvis/Beatles-like chart domination he's been doing.

I also don't think 50 Cent deserves to have three songs in the top 5 at once, "In Da Club" was his only memorable track period

My bad. I should have said an awful lot R&B artists didn't chart on the Hot 100 in the '80's and early 90s.
There were some quality songs (like Stephanie Mills' "I Feel Good All Over" or Angela Winbush's "Angel" ) that made it to number 1 on the R&B chart that neither held a position on the pop charts nor got any radio play on Top 40 stations.
All the #1 soul singles of the '70's (and '60s, I believe) at least placed on the pop charts.

well, if a song is a hit on one chart, it doesn't mean it's gonna cross over. There have been countless songs that hit #1 on the rock format that never got touched by top 40, and country #1's that never crossed over either. The top 40 is overrun by hip hop to such an extent I refuse to listen anymore. I know people said disco was bad in the late 70's, I don't think that disco had quite the stranglehold on pop music that hip hop has had the past 3 years, plus disco only ruled for about 2 years. Even a decisively NON-disco artist (well, she did do some disco tracks, but "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" certainly wasn't one of them) like Barbra Streisand was still able to score a #1 hit in 1978, there hasn't been one artist not associated with American Idol who doesn't have at least some hip hop ties (for example, Beyonce, Usher and J. Lo may not be hip hop per se, but they have all done plenty of hip hop collaborations) that has been able to hit #1 in 3 1/2 years. It's just too much, backlash already!!!

I used to have most of my cd's on album when i was a kid. I'm so glad the internet came on the scene because if it wasn't for the internet, i wouldn't have been able to get those albums on cd cause the record stores don't have them on cd cause they're out of print. Steve Harvey cracked me up on The Original Kings Of Comedy movie when he said he can't stand rap music & these young kids today don't know nothin about old school r&b music. He said old school players worked with one mic. No matter what they did, they came back to the mic LOL. 5 Temptations, one mic LOL. Then he said s**t ain't like that no more. Stink ass rappers make me sick hahahahahahahahahahaha. He said 40 muthaf**kin rappers on stage & everybody got a mic hahahahahaha. Muthaf**ka why hahahahahahahahahahahaha. How everybody get a mic LOL. We can't understand what one of ya'll is saying LOL. Then he said you know the one thing i don't like about rap concerts. Too many damn instructions. Everybody gotta do something hahahahahahahahahahaha.
