OK... my printer was working perfectly fine last night. This morning the power flicked for just a second(just long enough to shut the computer down). I restarted immediately of course. I just tried to print something(I actually tried off Internet Explorer and Notepad), and it wouldn't do anything. The printer icon came up on the bottom by the time, but it never printed. The printer is on, plugged in, and installed(I checked). I tried to turn it off manually(by pressing the on/off button) and it wouldn't do anything like it was frozen. We got this printer a few months ago but have had nothing but trouble with it. We just recently got it re-installed on the computer. It's an HP PSC 1315 All-in-One Series. Buyer beware.

Oh and the document is still stored on the printing documents list. I clicked cancel 10 minutes ago but it's still there.

Disconnect the printer from the USB port, shut down your computer plug it back in while the PC is still off. then turn the computer back on and see if the printing starts. if that fails disconnect it again and uninstall and the reinstall printing software.

instead of just cancelling the document, try Purge all documents on the menu in the print queue

unplug the printer from your computer and unplug the power cord - leave it off for a few minutes. Try see if you can detect a burnt smell to it.

shut down the PC, plug the printer back in and boot it back up. try to test print a document from the Printer applet in the Control Panel

There is no purge... there is a pause which I tried but it came up with "Error Processing Command". It is still, 19 hours later, sitting there trying to cancel the document.

It seems to be slowing up the computer now. When you click Internet Explorer, it just sits there for about 10 seconds and then loads. Once it loads it's fine, but when you type something on the address bar at the top, you have to click Go several times before it starts to load and it even locks up briefly.

I am going to try unplugging it tonight and see what happens. This is ridiclous how little things can cause big problems.

The above described problems started when the printer messed up last night, they were fine before that.

I have a HP PSC 1350. Buyer beware - it's been giving me "Check Paper" errors for about two months now, when I don't even have ANY paper in there!

It was doing it this morning. I do NOT recommend those all-in-one's from HP.

Holy crap.

I have a HP PSC 2170 and so far it's been problem-free, but it's probably going to only be a matter of time before it starts acting up.

When we added this printer a few months back, the first sign of trouble was when it wasn't listed on the list of printers(in the add printer wizard)!

We got it really cheap and if I could do it over again, I would have put more effort and money into finding a better one.

Yeah, that's how it was with mine. It was problem-free for oh maybe a year or so (I got it in December of 2003), and about two months ago, it started giving me trouble.

Won't be long before it goes down the same route my Lexmark printer did - the stupid tray that holds the ink cartridges will probably break, just like it did with my Lexmark...then I'll have to get another one.

Grrrrr. Yeah, just a warning. Hopefully nothing happens to yours.

That's awful. I don't remember how much I paid for mine...As mentioned, I got it in December 2003...It must've been a little over $100 when I got it...That's cheap, when you consider it does 3 things in one. I would've rather paid more for a standalone printer and scanner. =/ Oh well. You and I have both learned from this.

no, yesterday he tried to print out a letter to FOX he wrote intending to convince them to put gumbel 2 gumbel back on the air as his last wish shortly before dying of a terminal illness but it came out as a picture of a giant half chicken half squirrel with patrick duffy for a leg.

I can't stand a Lexmark printer.

In my job as a computer technician where I have to fix computers problems (most of them involve printers and such), those are the one brand of printers that I hate working with because they give me so much trouble. I'll be able to fix a problem with it and then not even an hour later, something else goes wrong with it, and it's a continuous cycle with it all day long.

Yeah, I hope nothing goes wrong with my printer either, but I just know that now I jinxed it and all hell is going to break loose.

Me too. Never again.

I got a Lexmark in May 2000 and all was well with it...Gave me occasional printer trouble, but nothing I couldn't fix. Then for some STRANGE, unknown reason in April 2003, the carrier tray that held my ink carts decided to stop moving.

so it quit printing. Oh yeah, THAT was great.

Yeah, those Lexmarks are nothing but pieces of crap. One day I had fixed some kind of limitcheck error on one of their printers, by increasing the amount printer memory. I finally had figured out the solution to it after a week of trial-and-error type stuff and I was like I'm done dealing with that thing...... or so I thought. 30 minutes later I had to go back and mess with the same printer all over again because the stupid thing kept rattling so hard that it would almost fall off the stand that it was placed on and this time my thought was, "Well, I'll be damned."

Finally I said that the printer is crap and it needs to be replaced.

Epsons are really good printers and probably are the only ones that I would be willing to deal with on an everyday basis.

It was rattling that hard? Man, what a story.

No doubt about it..they need to ban Lexmarks for good. They're nothing but cheap, plastic garbage.
