On the dvd set, it appears there is some audio effects missing in the episode "To Move or Not to Move." In the tag scene, Carol and Mike hear two squeaks in the background. On the dvd, they are almost inaudible. I've read from someone else that on the Columbia House tapes, they were still quiet but louder, but on the syndicated versions you could hear the sound effects plainly. Is this a result of noise reduction mistaking the cues for pops and erasing them, or was the episode originally recorded too low, or maybe a mistake in the dvd mixing. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Guys,
The DVD's were recorded from the original masters. Presumably, it was the best copy they could find. The picture and sound are than remastered to give the best audio/video avaliable. While I think that the Brady Bunch DVD video is certainly shaper and clearer than TV Land's or syndicated prints, it should be noted that , the age of the show is apparent. The opening theme looks like it was used for all episodes (same print) and could be clearer. I think TV Land/syndication magnefied some sounds to produce a similar volume level across the board. The DVD's try to preserve the original production before syndication, so the picture and sounds we are seeing and hearing are as close as possible to the first run airings of the show. This would explain to me that the sound was not amplified in the show's original network broadcast. Jack |

I saw the episode yesterday on TVLAND and the sounds are indeed there. Don't you think they were supposed to be audible originally?

On my DVD, I have no problem. I can hear the creaking and moaning, perfectly fine!

Perhaps the effects tracks were recorded too low on the dvds....the music and laugh tracks are also a bit buried in the mix.
