I've often been curious about the apartment building the characters live in.It appears to be a fairly old building, but at the same time seems like a modern highrise. The architecture is quite unique,I love the diamond shape design on each apartment door. The building itself is apparently five stories,so they would need a modern elevator. But Ann has no belcony outside her livingroom window, just a fire escape. The bedroom corridor is interesting too.I once thought Ann's apartment had only one bedroom. Then I realised that the door that is seen next to the bathroom door,is obviously the door to a seperate hallway.Besides Ann would have to have had more than one bedroom in her apartment for Julie and Barbara, and later Alex.We never ever saw the apartment across the hall from Ann.Just Schnieder's bachelor apartment in the basement of the building.Architecherally it looks like an interesting building.

I remember in one episode Ann mentioning that she was on the 4th floor of a 5 storey building.Plus their apartment number seen on Ann's door read 402.The door to the bedroom corridor was on the right hand side of the bathroom. It looked like an unseen hallway that originally contained two bedrooms.Apparently when Alex moved in,Schnieder had built an extra bedroom for him, because Barbara still lived there at the time.I remember in one episode from season 1,we actually saw David's apartment. In another episode from that season we saw the building's foyer. But both these places actually looked as if the same set interior had been used.

Would a 10-apartment, 5 story building really need a live-in "Super"?

I would hate to have share a bathroom like they do. That would be very annoying.
Ed was pretty successful so why couldn't they have found a nicer place to live? It was so much better when they had the Horvath and Royer house which was small but much more attractive. Don't get me started on Schneider's apt. which was an eye sore. |

I always thought there were more apartments than 10? You think there were only two apts. per floor?

But it must have really been a pain when all those people lived there in Pride and Privacy! I liked the alcove and window seat in the apartment! I thought that was really neat! I really loved the Royer/Horvath house alot too! It was adorable. And good that they had a second bathroom down stairs!
