Thumbs up Martin Short on SVU!

OMG OMG OMG! I thought Matthew Modine was scary on SVU, but Martin Short actually made me afraid to go to sleep! I guess it was cuz I am so used to seeing him being funny--and cuz glimpses of that charming person still came through as he smiled right in the detectives' faces. Chilling!

Plus, this story also "ripped from the headlines" a critical plot point with regard to the psychic's wife. I won't spoil it for those who didn't see the show--but it mirrored a recent real-life case which sickened me more than any other I can remember since that of Andrea Yates!

I would call this the best episode I have seen in a loooong time--even up against Matthew Modine and the return of Alex Cabot. It had inspired casting of guest stars, great suspense, neck-snapping plot twists, and more wonderful than usual performances by the regulars! If SVU's general intent is to make viewers painfully aware of the heinous crimes it is possible to encounter in this world, this episode really did the job!

Martin Short's character was off the hook. I was surprised to see him playing a killer myself cause he always is acting silly in movies like Inner Space & Three Amigos.

DAMN! I missed it because I was out of town. I missed the one before it with Mathew Modine too, cause I fell asleep too early in the evening. Sounds like these were two good ones. I was looking forward to seeing Martin Short in a more serious role. I have followed his career since he was on SCTV. I always have liked him. Oh well, there is always re runs on USA. (Thank God!)

Oh yeah, I had the same problem here re windy--and the floors in this house squeak, and I have a sick kid who has been getting up every night around 10 or 11 and scaring me to death LOL! (That night she didn't, but still there were enough weird noises going on!)

I looked up this episode on TV Tome, and read that there was another "ripped from the headlines" aspect that I hadn't realized. The fact that the psychic and his wife were Canadian was supposed to be analogous to the case of Paul Bernado and Carla Homolka, a young (eventually married) Canadian couple who drugged her sister and several other young women, and then Paul assaulted them.

I seem to recall a different episode of SVU in which that case was more closely followed in the script. Remember the one about the 6 year old girl with an STD? I think that was more like this Canadian case. I had only thought they made Martin Short's character Canadian cuz he is in real life.

Martin Short was so execellent in that part I wanted Stabler to run his fist straight through the back of his head!!! What's so funny is I had turned to A&E and saw him do a impersonation of Martina Navratalova (sp?)!
