Default Marilyn Monroe: Suicide or Murder?

I just finished reading an excellent book called 'The Assasination of Marilyn Monroe'.I am now convinced that she did not take her own life.I believe that she was murdered.

Here are some theories:

1. The mob did it because they were mad at the Kennedys:

The source for this theory is Chuck Giancana, younger brother of a mob boss, as put forth in the 1992 book "Double Cross." Giancana Sr. had expected JFK's allegiance because the mobster had once saved Joe Kennedy Sr. from a hit during Prohibition days. Instead, Robert Kennedy went gunning for organized crime. Giancana had Marilyn killed to embarrass RFK, but Bobby Kennedy foiled the plan by removing compromising evidence.

2. Robert Kennedy did it, aided by agents of the Secret Service and CIA :

This theory is put forth in Robert Slatzer, in his book, "The Marilyn Files." According to Slatzer, he didn't apply the final touch, the fatal dose of Nembutal. But, like a general, he gave the command.

3. The mob and a mystery guest:

The source of this theory is Milo Speriglio, as put forth in his book "Crypt 33." Speriglio, a private eye, investigated the death for 19 years. Speriglio states that Monroe was murdered by the Mafia. He also claims that there is a connection to the Kennedys, but that John and Robert weren't involved in the death.

4. The Communists:

This theory comes from Frank Capell in his book "The Strange Death of Marilyn Monroe" (1964). Capell, a fervid anti-Communist, believes that Communists killed Monroe, perhaps following orders issued by RFK.

5. Dr. Ralph Greenson, Monroe's shrink:

This theory is put forth in "Peter Lawford: The Man Who Kept the Secrets," written by James Hall, who claims to have been the ambulance driver called to the scene following the discovery of Monroe's body. As Hall puts it, "Just as Marilyn started coming around, the doctor arrived... I believe it was Dr. Greeson (Marilyn's shrink). He... pushed her breast to one side and gave her an injection."

6. The mob, on orders from the Kennedys.

The source of this theory is "The Murder of Marilyn Monroe" (1992). The four authors of this book are, oddly enough, psychics. The claim to have conducted seances in which they interviewed JFK, RFK, and Marilyn. Talk about a triple play!

Marilyn was a sex goddess of the 1950’s and early 1960’s shortly before her death in 1962. Marilyn was a strong willed and very unique woman, who had a lifetime full of fame ahead of her. From what I read, she was also a happy woman, who enjoyed what she did. Why would she do something so weak as to commit suicide?

Just thought I'd find out if anyone had thoughts on this.
I personally believe it had something to do with Kennedy.Perhaps Marilyn knew too much about something, and her life was in danger.I guess no one will ever know the truth.

I don't believe any of those theories. IMO Marilyn Monroe was a troubled person who took too many pills.

There is the theory that she was killed because she had affairs with both the President and Robert F. Kennedy, and needed to be silenced because "she knew too much."

I tend to agree with that theory too. I don't think the mob would have any interest in killing her.

Personally, I think she accidentally killed herself. She had a history of suicide attempts; she always reached out to others for "help" and got it... just in time. She is known to have made several phone calls that night, but this time no one came to her aid. So she died.

I do also definitely believe that there was a "cover-up" around her actual death. Way too much time, and too many odd events, occurred that night before she was actually pronounced dead. I've read that Bobby Kennedy secretly came into town with the sole purpose of retrieving a diary which had top secret info in it... personal info or national security... who knows? Also, back in those days the movie industry still had their "studio system" in place. It was not all that unusual for the big brass to set in motion some "damage control."

If anyone actually killed her, I'd go with the housekeeper (Mrs Murray, I think). Marilyn recently discovered that the woman had been spying on her for Dr Greenson, and she had fired her, even to the point of giving her a final paycheck. Despite that fact, the housekeeper was still at Marilyn's home. But... murder? Not likely.

I don't think anybody can ever be sure, but I don't think she intentionally killed herself. There was a show on the biography channel about Marilyn's death and it said that she went to several different doctors who would give her pills whenever she demanded them- and that eventually she got a combination of pills from two of her doctors, that when taken together are extremely dangerous. Only people with medical knowledge would have known this at the time, so Marilyn Monroe may have accidentally killed herself.

Someone else interviewed said that the maid had washed all of the sheets and clothes in Monroe's room before the ambulance got there.

It's very starnge, but I think it was an accidental death. I doubt Marilyn Monroe would have been so important or so much of a threat to have killed. She was a brilliant actress though.

Murder. I read a book about her death and that whole night, and her Doctor, housekeeper, and the Kennedys all seem to know the truth IMO and had something to do with her death. They also talked about her autopsy and how she had bruises and such in her armpit I think it was, where the injections would have been. I mean, has anyone seen her face after she died? It was bruised beyond belief.. popping too many pills wouldnt do that I believe.

Also, in the book it states something about either her bedroom window being open or her door locked from the outside.. ugh I forget but it was the opposite as to what it always was. Then it mentioned the emergency calls to 911 and such by the dr. and the time frames they happened and the housekeepers story wasnt exactly the same... I forget most of it since I read it back in 2001, but it was a really really good book. It also stated that at the time of her death she was just starting to become 'happy' again and was about to get remarried.

There were also bruises found on her body, that definetly proved she was physically abused prior to her death.

Yes, I have seen the photo of her face. The discoloration was caused by lividity.

Check out this link for an explanation:

Dr. Baden - HBO Autopsy

In this he says:

"The whole body collapses as a result of gravity and then, over a period of an hour or two, rigor mortis starts to become noticeable and the muscles and the arms and extremities start getting stiff. At the same time, after death, the red blood cells in all the blood vessels of the body start settling down to the lowest point, much as red cells settle in a plastic bag when one gives blood at the blood bank.

The blood is about forty-five percent red cells, white cells and platelets -- solid material -- and during life the heart churns it all up, so everything is all mixed together. But as soon as we die, everything starts settling in the body because there's no more churning action. This causes a reddish, maroon color of death, called lividity. So if after an hour or two the body is moved and put in a different position, rigor mortis and lividity will still reflect the body's original position."

Marilyn was found lying face down on her bed. The blood settled in her face.

I don’t really get why men have affairs. John had a beautiful wife. Robert had eleven, yes eleven kids with his wife so we can’t really say that she was putting out when he wanted it. Besides having affairs would be just tiring after a bit, plus for powerful men like them, it can be a potential headache. Look at Bill Clinton and all the trouble he has gone through for being a sex addict. But no one is really mad at him except for the women because his wife was a shrew.

From what I have read, Marilyn Monroe was sort of a low IQ person. Again, if the affair did happen, why did the brothers decide on such a high profile woman like her? I have asked why their political opponents didn’t know and bring to light that these two were screwing anything that moved and that was Un-American.
