Anyone remember this episode?
It involved a guy looking for a gold treasure which was supposedly hidden underneath a special weird looking rock. He may have gotten the idea of looking under a rock from some code he deciphered. Any clue anyone?

Yes, the episode you're referring to is the one about the Lost Dutchmans goldmine, allegedly hidden in the mountains of Arizona....the guy who claimed he'd discovered the gold treasure said he'd disguised the entrance to the mine and covered it with rocks so noone would find it....
It was the 2nd story in the show which featured the Lisa Marie Kimmel murder, and is one of my favourites....i was hoping it would figure in the Legends boxset, but alas, no sign of it.. Hope that helps! |

Sounds more like Beale's burried treasure. The story was featured in Special 7.

I remember the Lost Dutchman mine story. The one I'm thinking of was different. The recreation showed a guy digging around a rock which looked like a face i think. He thought he cracked some code which told him to look under a rock which looked like a face.
any other ideas? |

Brad Meltzer's Decoded just did an interesting segment on the Beale Treasure. They completely left out claims by those who purport to have found the site(s), at least one of whom has a website devoted to their findings. Since the treasure, if it existed, was supposed to have been hidden in 1819 and 1821 there may be more than one site.

On the Brad Meltzer show, one guy claimed to have found the location, in New Orleans...underwater. He was going to go back when the water receded.
Here is a website claiming to have found the vault: http://bealesolved.tripod.com/ You may want to turn your computer's sound off--extremely annoying music!

The small portion about the first guy claiming to be Walt Gassler's son, Roland, and how he possibly took Walt's backpack containing some of the gold was very eerie and adventurous at the same time. |
