Default Anyone know who started the ROBOT DANCE?

I know that the dance was first seen on Soul Train but Don't know who did the dance first. I do know that Michael Jackson did the ROBOT but was he the First? Can anyone help me

It was that group of motorized mannequin impersonators in the store windows you always see at Chrtistmas time! Who do you think?!?

I remember seeing an old Jet magazine from 1973 or '74 years ago at my local library and they were talking about the robot dance craze and how it started. I can't remember if it said who started it but it did say that it started in Chicago area dance clubs. They also said that Soul Train was the first TV show to feature their dancers doing it. Now I wish I had that issue of Jet to refresh my memory! lol
