Arrested Development is in HUGE danger of not returning in the fall.
I predict FOX will bring the show back for a shortened season (however many episodes are needed to compete for Emmys).... but will air on Fridays rather than Sundays. AD is a very cult-driven show, and I predict the vast majority of its' audience will follow the show from Sundays to Fridays. If not, I think a possible move to FX would work. They are planing to air new, original comedy series and AD seems to be a perfect fit. Which would you rather see, or if neither -- what are your plans to save AD?? |

I'd rather see them move it to FX.

You want it eligible for the 2005-2006 Emmys? Simple. Pull it now, and then burn off the 6 remaining episodes this summer. Then it's eligible this year and next. Voila!

Move it to Fridays. If they moved it to FX, I wouldn't be able to watch it.

Keep it where it is, its getting almost as many viewers as Malcolm in the middle, and they are keeping that show.

Of the two choices, I'd say move the show to FX.
At least FX is interested in keeping good shows on the air. |

I think Sunday's worst rated show on FOX is higher rated than the best show on Fridays. |

Arrested Development at 8:30 had 6.3 million viewers and ranked 72, and at 9:00 it had 5.8 million and ranked 76. The OC which is supposed to be one of Fox's great show only had 5.4 mil viewers and ranked 81. Other than American Idol and House, and 24 Fox had no shows in the Top 20. Of course American Idol was in it 3 times!!! Heck other than the special Law and Order Trial by jury which was 17, no other show on Friday was in the top 30!! and many of them were 50 and above. I say let it move to cable somewhere. Just don't cancel it!! |

Looks like FOX is trying AD out of Fridays. I hope it does well.
Keep in mind, this is a repeat. I think it will do pretty well, my guess is that it'll be FOX's best show of the night. If FOX can get close to Sunday's numbers.... I'd be willing to bet we'll be seeing it on Fridays in the fall. http://www.thefutoncritic.com/cgi/go...=20050311fox19 ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT (4/1-1) Air Date: 4/1/05 (FRIDAY) Time Slot: 9:00 PM-9:30 PM EST on FOX Episode Title: "Good Grief!" (ARR-204) GEORGE SR. IS D.O.A. ON "ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT" FRIDAY, APRIL 1, ON FOX Guest Appearance by Henry Winkler When Lucille hires a bounty hunter (Malik Yoba) to find George Sr., he delivers the disturbing news that George Sr. is dead. Each Bluth copes with the pain in a different way: Gob tries to pull off an elaborate illusion, Maeby tries to set up Lindsay with the bounty hunter, and Michael tries to mend his son's relationship. Meanwhile, George Sr. is closer than they all think on the "Good Grief!" episode of ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT Friday, April 1 (9:00-9:30 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (ARR-204) (TV-PG L, V) Cast: Jason Bateman as Michael; Portia de Rossi as Lindsay; Jessica Walter as Lucille; Jeffrey Tambor as George Sr. and Oscar; Michael Cera as George-Michael; Alia Shawkat as Maeby; Will Arnett as Gob; Tony Hale as Buster; and David Cross as Tobias. Guest Cast: Henry Winkler as Barry; Malik Yoba as Ice, the bounty hunter; Mae Whitman as Ann; and Abraham Higginbotham as Gary. |

Let's hope it does well, to save it.
There will actually be 2 AD shows on that night, the other one being Ready, Aim, Marry me at 9:30. I would also imagine it wouldn't get, or have to get the numbers it gets on Sunday. Friday ratings are usually dismal for any show on any network. But lets keep the ratings up!! |

From the new issue of tvguide:
When Fox recently cut Arrested Development's Season from 22 to 18 episodes fans feared the Emmy-winning sitcom's development was being arrested. Not so insists Fox president Gail Berman: "It's a strategy we're using to protect the show." Translation: By finishing it's season in April, Arrested won't see it's already low ratings dip further against other nets' May-sweeps stunts. That'll make it easier for Berman to justify renewing it. The suddenly shortened season meant creator Mitchell Hurwitz had to ditch a few planned subplots, including the return of the Bluths' adopted son Annyong(Justin Lee). "He's off getting his education at the Milford Academy, where the motto is: 'Children should be neither seen nor heard," Hurwitz says. "Which is also our motto: Arrested Development, neither seen nor heard" |
