Default Should Mike Evans have just stayed away after leaving in 1975?

I saw no point in Mike Evans returning after he left the show. It was kind of odd since he was already replaced by another actor. Now if there was no replacement then I guess he could have returned but Mike comes Back after the REPLACEMENT???? I think that may have happened once in Sitcom History.

The First Vivian of Fresh Prince never Returned
The First Harriet of Family Matters never returned
The First Becky of Roseanne never returned

See my point?-LOL

He was supposed to come back. He only left because he was co-creator of Good Times and couldn't handle the workload when Good Times ended he came back.

WRONG. He left because his was not satified with his small role on the show. He felt that heshuld have had a larger role on the show and then asked Norman Lear how can he get off the show. Lear said-"just say you want out and that's it" And Mike Evans said-"i want out" and Lear said-"DONE"

I think you are both right as to why he left the show. The question is, why did he come back?

He came back because during the summer of 1979, Sherman Hemsley ran into Mike Evans and they were talking about their times working together. So Mike was unemployed at the time and Sherman asked him would he like to return to the Jeffersons and Mike said yes. So Sherman talked to the producers and told them he wanted Mike to return and that's how Mike reapperaed in the 1979-80 season.

Sorry, that's not true. The first Becky (Lecy Goranson - she calls herself Alicia Goranson now) was on the show from 1988-92. Then Becky 2 (Sarah Chalke) stepped in from 1993-1995. Becky 1 came back for the 95-96 season. Then Becky 2 returned for the final season 1996-1997.
