Default Kari Lynn Nixon

Any one remember this case? Well it was aired on lifetime today. I have a question, They said she was spotted in SC way back when and they were almost sure it was her

then at the end of the segment, i think they said they found her body near her home in new york.

do you think it was here in SC? Or someone else that looked like her. I don't think her killers would transport her down south and bring her body back home would they?

Yes, I remember that story. I do think it was someone who looked like her that was in SC. The guy that confessed I think said he killed her the night she went missing. I have no idea why that girl would give that as her name unless it was a huge coincidence and it was her name as well or maybe she had been in the area and heard about Kari Lynn Nixon in the news or something. Also I have a copy of an update that aired on NBC years ago and they showed a girl on a "New Kids On The Block" video that looked just like Kari and her parents were excited at the time that it might have been her. Two guys from the band even made an appeal on the segment for her to call her parents. Obviously when it came to be what really happened to Kari they didn't air the segment again.

Wow, I never saw the New Kids on the Block video update, I've only seen the update where the killer had confessed to her murder. I was a New Kids fan way back when and I don't recall seeing her lookalike in their video. That's some coinsidence!

Yes, I was amazed myself at how much the girl did look like Kari as of course they showed a clip of the video in the update. They were even able to tell this girl had multiple ear piercings like Kari did. I wonder if they ever found out who the girl really was. You would think someone probably called the telecenter after it aired and knew the identity of the lookalike. Since you know NKOTB, Jordan and Jon Knight were both on the segment.

That's a rather HUGE coincidence if I do say so myself. The fact that a girl who was around the same age, the same look, the same color and length of hair, and who had the same first, middle and last name as Cary Lynn Nixon would exist. The woman who was introduced to the girl at the camp ground even said she was 100% sure that the girl was Cary. Too weird.

I may be wrong, but I don't think it was a music video. Wasn't it just some concert footage? Help me out here, crystaldawn.

No problem justins5256! I rewatched the update and it was their "Hangin' Tough Live" concert that they taped on 6/5/89 in Los Angeles. Now I'll have that stupid song in my head the rest of the day.

You are so wonderful.

I really wish that unidentified girl in the NKOTB video was Cary. She seemed like a nice girl.

Thanks cyrstaldawn and justins5256! I wonder which NKOTB and UM fan spotted that "look-alike". It's this little twists and spins on mysteries that make me hooked on UM. I wonder if there is any way I can get a picture of that NKOTB footage. I live in Singapore, so UM stopped airing here since early 90's

Thanks to crystaldawn's copy of this segment on Echoes Of Fear's Unsolved Mysteries web page, I was able to watch the original update with the girl in the "New Kids on the block," tape and wow....she looks so much like Kari. Even the multiple piercings on her right ear match up. Hard to believe that wasn't her.

Ditto on that, she was a dead ringer for Kari.

I just watched the segment too. I know hindsight is 20/20, but the lady who claimed she was introduced to KLN at the picnic/whatever seems like sort of a kook. Her whole appeal to Keri seemed kind of creepy, and the fact that she claimed to know that she was a runaway at the time (yet never did anything to intervene) just sets off alarm bells for me. It's possible that it's just mistaken identity, but the whole second witness "memory lapse" is rather convenient.

Well just to update this and to offer my opinions on some of the details of this. A man named Robert Jones confessed in 1994 that he had abudcted, raped and murdered Keri Lynn Nixon and he showed the cops where her body was. Jones had been sentenced in 1993 to 15 years for a 1992 robbery. Jones pleaded guilty to 2nd degree murder and was given a sentence of 18 years to life to run concurrent with his robbery sentence meaning he will become eligible for parole 3 years after his robbery sentence will have ended. Jones will become eligible for parole in 2011. According to Jones who in 1987 lived with his father in Jay, New York which I believe is 10 or so miles south of Au Sable Forks. Jones said that he had met Nixon at the grocery store and that he had got into his car and that he approached her from that angle that he abducted her at gun point that he took her to a camp on his fathers property in Jay and that he raped her and killed her within hours of her disapperance. Her body was buried less than 10 miles from her home. Jones was 24 at the time this happened. Now in terms of the Keri sightings in South Carolina it is unclear what was going on there. Since Jones has said he killed her within hours of her disapperance that would mean it wasnt Keri in South Carolina. I dont know if it was some kids that were playing around and that one of them pretended to be Keri Nixon or what. I do find it strange that the girl that the girl claiming to be Keri was seen with would suffer from a "memory lapse" and not be able to remember being with a girl named Keri. It is my belief that the girl didnt want to get in trouble because her friend had pretended to be Keri Nixon and she didnt want to get in trouble for it. As for the old woman I think she did truly believe she had met Keri Nixon. However remember she didnt know that Keri Nixon was missing at the time when she met the girl claiming to be Keri Nixon. She probably didnt think too much about it at the time. It probably wasnt until after she realized Keri was a missing person started thinking about it more and I think she said looking back Keri sounded like a run away.
