At least that's what medical research says.

North Dakota is going to have to do something about the driving age, then. You can be 14 to start driving here. You could have your permit as early as eighth grade, but that wouldn't do you any good because you don't get your own parking spot until high school.

14?????? WHAT?!?!?!?!

Okay I really hate when people say that just because we're 16 means we don't know how to drive. When I got into my car accident (THAT WAS NOT MY FAULT) the guy who hit me was like "How long have you had your license?" and I said "Like 7 months." and he said "Oh I thought you were going to say 7 days! *obnoxious laughter*" All the while I'm wondering why it matters how long I've had my license for...I'm not the one who ran through a ****ing stop sign.

So all I'm saying is, it's not age. It's the maturity level. There's some 16 year olds that don't have any business driving, but there's also older people that can't handle it either.

I can drive... my mom says I'm a really good driver. You just need concentration and skills. I mean yeah, any 16 year old idiot who's blasting the ****ing radio with a cell phone in one hand and a cigarette in the other obviously cannot drive.

Heh-heh. Speaking of driving...

It was raining a few days ago here, and I went to this big nearly abandoned parking lot near where I live, I got to about 30mph and stepped hard on the emergency brake - locking the rear wheels up - the I jerked the wheel to the right throwing the back end of the car into an awesome 180 degree spin. I also did some doughnuts, but who hasn't?

Yeah, I like driving.

I personally don't think age has anything to do with it. It has to do with the responsibility of the person. you could have a 16 year old who is a very good driver, but a 45 year old person who's been driving for years and is a horrible driver. It just depends on the person not age. Same thing with the drinking laws. It depends on how responsible the person is. IMO

Yup, which is why I'm going to wait to drive. Three ****ing accidents all resulting in death this year from kids at my school, and one 19 who had graduated. Of course, it also does depend on the driver...but the younger, the better risk of accident. I honestly don't trust myself to drive yet. I have poor concentration, I'm extremely paranoid (I'll yell at my mom to break when there's a car pulling out 10 feet away) and I'm also just plain scared to do it. Teenagers think "Oh joy, I'm old enough to drive now. I'm a big kid!" And rush at it as soon as they can...when that shouldn't be the case. It should be a matter of maturity and how much you AND others believe you should attempt it so soon.

I was so terrified to drive, you have no idea. I didn't trust myself at all. It's really not as bad as it seems though.

Yeah. A LOT of my friends started driving at 14. I guess it was due to the fact I went to HS in a rural town and like 1/2 the kids lived out in the country. Nobody in my family was 14 when they got their licenses, tho...my parents made my sibs wait until after they turned 16 to get their license. When I was in 8th grade, I used to go around town w/ two friends who were already 14 and had their licenses. One was in 8th with me and the other in 9th. Craaaaaaaaazy, right, I know. It's something I don't recommend to anybody else.

I remember in October 2002 (during my senior yr in HS), this sophomore boy died in a car accident. He was 15 and already had his license. He'd had his license for about a year or so. It was his fault - he was driving under the influence.

You obviously didn't have to pay for your car, with no help from anyone... if you did, you have way too much money to blow!

My brother had a car practically handed to him with a bow on it, and he takes it to the school soccer field, does a few donughnuts, then flips his car and totals it. Dumbasses like that piss me off.

I just got my license a few weeks ago(over 16 1/2 now). I'm still nervous about driving. I finally managed to go to Wal-Mart Saturday and to Hardees' Sunday Morning by myself.
