I have never seen this show but I read at the IMDB that Rusty Stevens was in the TV Movie but not in the show does anybody know why?

Yes, he was in the TV movie. He was also in only 1 episode of the subseqent series- Dads and Grads (the last ep of the series)

I don't know why he was not in the series more.
