For all the praise they gave him with the film, one person who I noticed absent from the Oscar Memorial Tribute was the great Ray Charles who died last year. He did compose a lot of music that appeared in movies and even appeared in some like The Blues Brothers and Spy Hard, himself.

Didn't the Oscars ignore the death of John Ritter. I could be wrong, but I could've sworn they did.

No I remember they had a clip of John Ritter when they were showing all the other stars that died that year. Usually the Oscars don't make this mistake. I can't believe they didn't include Ray Charles or Ruth Warrick. |

They didn't recognize Dorothy McGuire, Troy Donahue, Jonathan Brandis, Peggy Lee, and many others when they went. The sad truth is that they just don't have enough time and space to mention everybody. Ray Charles was a huge oversight, but sadly it's not the first time they've left people out. They didn't mention Sandra Dee either, but she probably died too recently to be included.
Turner Classic Movies used to do a wonderful tribute to everyone that had died in the past year, and never forgot anybody. But if they did it this year I didn't catch it
